Journalists form human chain in Jessore

Journalists in Jessore formed a human chain in front of Jessore Press Club protesting at the arrest of Daily Observer photographer Ashik Mohammad. Moniruzzaman Monir, president, Bangladesh Photo Journalists Association, Jessore district unit, Galib Hasan Piltu, general secretary, Fakhre Alam and other journalists spoke at a rally during the human chain that continued for an hour since 12 noon on Thursday
6 students hurt in clash over eve-teasing at B M College

At least six students became injured in clash over eve-teasing at Barisal Brojo Mohun (B M) College campus on Sunday noon. Among the injured Gopal Chandra, a student of Economics department, admitted at Barisal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital and others given first aid locally. S M Imanul Hakim, principal of the college, said he formed a 3-member probe committed led by Abdul Motaleb Haoladar, teacher of Management department and asked to submit report within next 5-working days. Shah Md. Awlad Hossain, officer in charge of Kotwali police station, said police controlled the situation and deployed at the campus. Till this report no case was lodged in this connection. Witnesses said the clash started between the two groups led by Md Waliur Rahman, student of Sociology, resident of Ashwini Kumar Hall and Plash Chandra, student of Social Welfare, resident of Jibanananda Hall. Waliur alleged that Palash teased his girlfriend when they were gossiping at Jibanananda Mancho and assaulted him when he protested.Palash denying the allegation told when he passed a comment against one of his friend who was seating near Wali, Wali misunderstanding it as teasing against his girlfriend assaulted me.
Youth dies from snakebite
BENAPOLE: A young man died from snakebite at Sadipur village in Sharsha upazila of Jessore early Sunday.Locals said Musa Hossain, 25, son of Asad Hossain, a resident of Sadipur village, was bitten by a venomous snake while returning home from field on Saturday evening.He was taken to Sharsha Upazila Health Complex around 12:00 am. Later, Musa died around 4:00 am, , reports UNB.
One held with 1,800 Yaba

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested an alleged drug peddler with 1,800 pieces of Yaba tablets from a slum in PTI area of Chapainawabganj town on Friday afternoon. The arrested was identified as Md Jasim Uddin, 28, son of Md Ainal Hoque of Baker Ali Biswaspara village under Chapainawabganj sadar upazila.RAB said, acting on secret information, an operation team of the RAB-5 from Chapainawabganj camp raided in the area around 1.15 pm and nabbed Jasim with the contraband drugs.

Later, he was handed over to the police of Sadar Thana with a case.
