Second round of Brexit talks set for Monday

AP, Washington

 The second round of Brexit negotiations will take place in Brussels on Monday, the British government said on Friday.
Britain’s Brexit minister David Davis will meet EU chief negotiator Michel Barnier for talks, followed by a meeting of coordinators and negotiating groups.
The three negotiating groups cover citizens’ rights, the financial settlement between the two parties and other separation issues.

Honolulu high-rise blaze kills three

 Three people died in a fire that consumed three floors of a 36-storey condominium tower in Honolulu on Friday, city officials said.
At least five others were injured in the blaze at the Marco Polo high-rise that send thick black smoke pouring out over the city, a month to the day after a deadly tower fire in London.
Firefighters sprayed water onto the flames from nearby balconies and brought them under control at about 6:30 p.m. local time (0430 GMT Saturday), fours hours after the fire began, Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell told reporters.
“We were all trying to help as much as we could … but there was a fire and you could see it spreading,” said 72-year-old resident, Karen Hastings, who was in the building when the fire broke out.

Head ofAfgha IS killed

 The head of Islamic State in Afghanistan, Abu Sayed, was killed in a strike on the group’s headquarters in Kunar province earlier this week, the Pentagon said on Friday.
Pentagon spokeswoman Dana White said in a statement that other members of the Islamic State group were also killed in the strike on Tuesday.

Iran police fatally shoot knife attacker

 Tehran police shot dead a man who attacked a clergyman and other people with a knife at a metro station on Saturday, Iranian state television reported.
Hadi Tamhidi, deputy governor of the Shar-e Rey district in south Tehran, said the unidentified man attacked the clergyman with a knife after a dispute, and injured another man.
Police shot and wounded the assailant.
