4 JMB men held in Rajshahi
RAJSHAHI: During a massive anti-crime drive, police arrested four members of “Neo JMB”, an ultra-radical offshoot of Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), here early on Sunday. According to the police sources, the arrested persons were identified as Abul Kashem Rokon, 38, of Dhadas village ofunder Puthia upazila, Babu Huzur, 28, Md Ali, 30, and Md Aslam, 37, of Joykrishnapur village of Durgapur upazila of the district.A joint team of Durgapur and Puthia Police Stations conducted the overnight drives in the areas and detained them for their alleged link with the banned militant outfits, said Sumit Chowdhury, additional superintendent of Rajshahi Special Branch of Police.Sumit Chowdhury said the men are in police’s new list of wanted militants, he said. “They have recently joined the banned outfit”, he said adding that Jihadi books and lethal weapons were found in their possession. A case was recorded with the police station concerned in this connection, he added, reports BSS.
Two electrocuted in Panchagarh, Magura
PANCHAGARH: A woman was electrocuted at Balorampur village under Atowary upazila of the district on Sunday afternoon .The victim was identified as Tripti Rani, 26, wife of one Toruni Kantho Ray, a resident of the area.Family sources said Tripti Rani was electrocuted when she came in touch with a live electric wire at a brick field in the area when she was walking there around 6pm.Majedur Rahman,Member of Panchagarh Zila Parishad, confirmed the incident, reports BSS.
MAGURA: An 11-year-old boy died after being electrocuted during holding his Sunnat-e-Khatna programme at Dighi village under Shalikha upazila in the district on Sunday. The deceased is identified as Faruk Hossain, son of Fayez Hossian of the village and class-V student of Dighi Government Primary School. Farukh received serious injuries when he was connecting an electric plug during his Sunnat-e-Khatna event, said Dr Muktadir Rahman, a residential doctor of Magura Sadar Hospital, quoting family sources. Duty-doctor declared Farukh dead after he was admitted to the hospital, he added, reports UNB,.
