Eight people were found dead on Saturday under the rubble of a collapsed apartment building near the southern Italian town of Naples, after rescue workers searched for bodies through the night, a fire brigade spokesman said.
The four-storey apartment in the town of Torre Annunziata, built in the 1950s and overlooking the sea, crumbled at around 6:20 a.m. local time on Friday.

Nearly two-thirds of United Nations states agreed on Friday to a treaty to ban nuclear weapons after months of talks, which were boycotted by the United States, Britain, France and others who instead pledged commitment to a decades-old Non-Proliferation Treaty.
The treaty on the prohibition of nuclear weapons will enter into force 90 days after 50 countries have ratified it. It was adopted with 122 votes in favor, one against and one abstention.

Preliminary results Saturday after most of the polling stations were counted showed Khaltmaa Battulga of the Democratic Party was leading with 50.6 percent of the vote.
9 dead in attack on Kenya coast

At least nine people were shot and hacked to death in Kenya’s coastal Lamu County early Saturday, in the latest attack on the area.
Police sources said Shabaab militants were believed to be behind the killings which took place in Jima and Pandaguo villages near the Somali border-an area that has seen a wave of recent attacks, mostly targeting the security forces.
