Daring dacoity committed in Monirampur

A daring dacoity was committed in a village of Monirampur pourashava on Saturday night. According to the locals dacoits numbering 22 to 25 stormed to the house of Smrity Jailers, vanes jailers and Bostro Bitan owner house located at Badam Toli area of Mohonpur village. They gharowed the total area and stay about two hours. They blasted hand bombs and looted cash 4.60 lacks and 25 vories of golden bar and ornaments. They injured house owner Gobindo Ghosh. A case has been registered in the Monirampur police station in connection. On the other hand, in demand of arrest of the dacoit Jailer somity was observed day long shut down on Sunday.
House wife suffocated to death in Monirampur
One housewife was allegedly suffocated to death by her husband’s younger brothers in a village of Moniampur Upazila on early Sunday. According to the report, Feroza Bagum, wife of Rezaul Islam of village Bangalipur went out from her room for the call of nature on Sunday morning. At that time her husband’s younger brother Taizel Islam and Rabbani, son of Samsur Rahaman allegedly killed her by suffocating her respiration and fled after hung with a tree. Locals said land feud is the cause of killings. Officer-in charge Enamul Haq said victim’s sister Sirina Begom has filed a case against four persons including Taizel and Rabbani.
Youth commits suicide in Dhunot

A youth committed suicide by drinking alcohol at Esshargat area in Dhunat upazila of Bogra district recently. The deceased was identified as Aka Mia, 32, son of Moslem Uddin of the village. Police quoting victim’s family sources said that the deceased from the very early of his life was addicted to hemp and became physically weak. At a stage he drank huge amount of Alcohol out of frustration and become sick in the night and on early Wednesday morning, added the source. Sub-inspector (SI) of Dhunat police station Milon Kumar said that out frustration the deceased committed suicide and the dead body was sent to hospital and a case was filed with the police station on the following day.
Huge hemp loaded truck seized, two held

Police sized a truck was loaded with 50 Kgs of Indian contraband drug hemp worth about Tk eight lakh at bordering village Varaipara of Hatibandha upazila in Lalmonirhat at around 11.30 pm on Sunday night. Two persons include the truck driver and the drug dealer were arrested on the spot, police said.
The arrested persons are identified as truck driver Mantu Shaikh,50, son of late Tusto Shaikh and drug dealer Shah Alam,32, son of Tamir Ali residences at Baraipara village of the upazila. Police said, on a tip off a team of hatibandha thana police led by Sub-Inspector SI Nur Alam raided the area and seized hemp loaded truck and arrested two persons on the spot. Seized hemps were loaded into the truck to transport these in the capital Dhaka, police said. In another hand an identified drug dealer Mamtaz Ali,44, son of late Piar Ullah residence at Fulgachh village in Lalmonirhat Sadar upazila was arrested possession with 16 bottles of Indian contraband drug phensydil by the plain cloth DB police at Khorarpul area in Sadar upazila at around 10 pm on Sunday night.
Labourer strangled to death in Benapole

A labourer was strangled to death at Chhoto Anchra village under Benapole port police station on Sunday night. The dead was identified as Shahid Ali, 25, labourer at Benapole land port and also son of Afsar Ali at Chhoto Anchra village under the port police station. Afsar Ali, father of the dead told newsmen that Shahid went missing since 11pm on Sunday after two women Shukjan Bibi and Rajgul called him out from his residence. His body was found hanging from a tree nearby his residence in the morning of Monday. Sub inspector Ashraful Islam of Benapole port police station told that being informed by the locals the police recovered the body and sent it to Jessore Medical College Hospital for post mortem examination. No case was filed and none was arrested till filing of the report.
