Imported cattle to sell after medical checkup

Initiatives were taken from a workshop that no imported cattle should be sold before medical checkup. Ministry of livestock arranged the workshop on animal diseases and safe animal food at Benapole customs auditorium on Saturday noon. Sheikh Afil Uddin, lawmaker for Jessore was the chief guest in the workshop. Chaired by Dr. Md. Nasir Uddin, deputy director, livestock department, the workshop was attended among others by Shaukat Hossain, customs commissioner, Jessore, Lieutenant Colonel Ariful Haque, commanding officer, 49 Border Guard Battalion, Mohsin Milon, president, Benapole Press Club, Emdadul Haque Lata, general secretary, Benapole customs clearing and forwarding agents association and customs official Mahbub Hossain. The concerned officials, in the workshop, took decision that no cattle should enter into any market before having medical checkup.
Listed terrorist held, arms seized
Jessore Kotwali police arrested Raqib alias Bhaipo Raqib, a listed terrorist of the police and accused in 12 cases including murder and robbery cases from Shankarpur area in Jessore town on Saturday night. The police recovered a foreign pistol, two rounds of bullets and a magazine from his possession, said sub inspector Hasanur Rahman of Kotwali police station. The arrested was a son of Kazi Tauhid of Shankarpur in Jessore town, police said.
School girl committed suicide

A school girl allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself with the fan at Baburagaon Noapara village in sadar upazila in Sylhet on Friday morning. Police recovered the hanging body of Fateha Jannat Rima, 14, daughter of Shafiqul Islam, a resident of Noapara village, around 11 am after being informed by the family members. She was the student of class IX of Border Guard Public School and College. However, it is not still clear what prompted the teenage girl to commit suicide, said sub-inspector Abdul Baten, in-charge of Shiberbazar Police Camp, adding the body was sent to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

Jhenaidah drug peddler jailed for 8 months
JHENIDAH: A mobile court on Tuesday sentenced a drug peddler to eight months imprisonment for selling hemp illegally at Bhatai Bazar in Shailkupa upazila. Upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) as well as executive magistrate Usman Gani passed the order after conducting a drive in the area.Acting on secret information, the mobile court carried out the drive and arrested Pradeep Das, son of Haripada Das of Sutalia village in Shailkupa upazila, along with 300 grams of hemp.
Later, the court sentenced him to eight months imprisonment under section 19 (1) of the Narcotics Control Act, 1990, reports UNB.
Minor boy drowns in B’baia
BRAHMANBARIA: A minor boy drowned in a water body at Shikdarpara in Sarail upazila recently. Local people said Masum Mia, 5, son of Kason Mia of Haripur village in Nasirpur upazila, slipped into the water body and drowned in the morning. After frantic search, local people rescued him and took him to local hospital where the doctors declared him dead. Masum met the tragic death while enjoying holidays at his grandfather’s house along with his parents, reports UNB.
