Missing worker found dead in Sylhet

Police recovered the body of a worker, who went missing three days ago in a boat capsize, from Bisnakandi river in Goainghat upazila of Sylhet on Friday. Sub-inspector of Goainghat Police Station Samiron Das said Billal Hossain, son of Montu Mia of Bogaiya haor village of the upazila, remained missing since Wednesday as their stone-laden boat sank in the Bisnakandi river. Locals spotted the body in the same river and informed police, he said.
Worker electrocuted in Faridpur
FARIDPUR: A construction worker was killed after being electrocuted in Sadar upazila of the district this morning. The victim was identified as Sentu Sheikh, 20, son of Abdul Haque of Goldangi village under sadar upazila. He came to contact with a live electric wire while working in an under construction building at Palpara village of the town around 9am and got electrocuted, said Sub-Inspector (SI) Nazrul Islam of Kotwali police station. The electrocution left him dead on the spot, he added, reports BSS.
Woman crushed under train wheels in Jessore
JESSORE: An unidentified woman was crushed to death under the wheels of a train in GRP camp area of the district this morning. Quoating locals, ASI of the camp Zakir Hossain said the intercity train ‘Goalando Express’ knocked down the woman while she was crossing the rail track, leaving her dead on the spot. Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to jessore-250 bed hospital, reports BSS.

Drug peddler’ held in Jessore
BENAPOLE: Detectives arrested a suspected drug peddler with drugs and firearms at Boropota village under Sharsha upazila on Saturday night. Tipped off that a group of drug peddlers was staying at Boropota village with the firearms and the narcotic substances, a team of detectives conducted the drive, said officer-in-charge of Jessore Detective Branch (DB) Emaul Hoque. During the drive, the DB men arrested Mukul Hossain, 32, son of late Mahar Ali, of Boropota village. The detectives later recovered a shooter gun, two bullets and 200 bottles of Phensedyl syrup and one kilograms of heroin from the possession of Mukul. Later, a case was filed with Benapole Port Police Station in connection, reports UNB.
