Youth dies during prayer in Sylhet

A youth named Abdush Shaheed (22) died suddenly during Tarafih prayer at Lauta union under Bianibazar upazila in the Sylhet District on Sunday. He was the son of Mohabbat Ali from Tikarpara village of Lauta Union. Villagers informed that Shaheed felt physically bad while he was praying at local mosque. No sooner had the young man come out at premise, than he died. It is guessed that extreme hot weather led him to sudden death.
One arrested with Yaba in Rampal

Bagerhat Zilla DB Police arrested a man named Mikail Shaikh (25) at 2 p.m. on Tuesday from Foyla Bazar in Rampal. He is the son of Ibrahim Shaikh of Hogol Danga village of the Upazilla . It is know from Bagerhat Zilla DB Police source that on secret information , they launched an operation at Foyla Bazar and arrested Mikail with 400 pieces of Yaba .A case has been filed in this regard.
Zia’s birth anniv observed in Kishoreganj

The 36th birth anniversary of BNP founder and late Presidet Lt. General Ziaur Rahman was observed in Kishoreganj district on Tuesday.. BNP and its association bodies arranged many programmes marking the day.. A discussion and milad mahfil organised by district BNP held at Akrapur on Tuesday. District Presidnet Md. Shariful Alam presided over the discussion. It was addressed among others by District Secretary Mazharul Islam, Vice President Md. Amiruzzaman, Organising Secretary Md Israil Miah, Aminul Islam Ashfaq and Hanif Uddin Ahmed Ronok.
811 Phensidyl bottles recovered in C’nawabganj

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive recovered 811 bottles of phensedyl syrup from Chharapara ground in Durlobpur union of Sibganj upazila on Wednesday morning. A petrol team led by Abdul Kader of BGB battalion 9 conducted a drive in the area and recovered the contraband syrup, said a press release. The seized 811 bottles of Phensedyl were deposited to the local office of Narcotics Control Department, it added. The BGB men, however, could not arrest any one in this connection.
Drive in Khulna to control price hike of essentials
KHULNA: The market monitoring cell of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) conducted drives in city’s two kitchen markets with a view to controlling price hike during the holy month of Ramadan. The team led by KCC Mayor Moniruzzaman Mony visited Sheikh Para kitchen market and KDA kitchen market on Tuesday. The team, however, did not find any irregularities and fine any trader for manipulation during the drive. During the visit, KCC Mayor Moniruzzaman urged businessmen not to earn abnormal profit from consumers during the holy month. He also asked leaders of kitchen market committee to hang price list of essential commodities everyday so that traders cannot charge extra prices from customers. “Businessmen will face the music if they take excessive prices of essentials from the common people,” added the mayor. From now on, the market monitoring cell led by executive magistrate will conduct drive at kitchen markets everyday to restrain skyrocket prices of essentials, said the mayor, adding that legal action will be taken if any businessman takes excessive prices from customers. President of Finance and Establishment Standing Committee of KCC and Councilor of ward 20 Md Gausul Azam, KCC Secretary Md Iqbal Hossain, Chief Revenue Officer Arif Nazmul Hasan, Executive Engineer Zahid Hossain Sheikh, Senior Veterinary Surgeon Dr Md Rezaul Islam and Executive Magistrate Md Abdul Halim, among others, accompanied the mayor during the drive, reports BSS
