One held with boat carrying 1158 bottles phensidyl , 41 Kg hemp in Barisal

A team of Rapid Action Battalion unit-8 on early Thursday arrested one with engine-boat carrying 1,158 bottles Phensidyl and 41 Kg hemp from Laharhut launch station area under Barisal Sadar upazila. The arrested drug peddler was identified as Ganesh Haldar, son of Kalachan Haldar, from Chargoma under Bakerganj upazila of Barisal. RAB-8 sources said a group of three drug peddlers tried to flee away from a engine-boat anchored at Laharhut launch station when a patrol team of RAB-8 reached at the area. RAB chasing the team succeded to nab Ganesh Haldar and according to his confession searching the engine-boat recovered 1,1158 Phensidyl in liquid and bottled form and 41 Kg hemp packed with plastic at 2:20 AM Thursday. Detained Ganesh acknowlged that the drug was brought for peddling in the area during Eid and RAB trying to arrest other two assoiates of the arrestee.
CCDB starts helping to Rana Plaza victims

Christian Commission for Development in Bangladesh- CCDB with the help of Giz started helping to the Raza Plaza victims for business on 31 July. In the first step CCDB is going to distribute Tk. 10 lakh among the 20 victims. The helps were given for vegetables and foods on van, lighting, tea and grocery business.
Reception to freedom fighters in Baraigram

Some 167 freedom fighters of Baraigram upazila were accorded reception formally by Baraigram upazila Awami League Vice-Chaiman Dr. Siddikur Rahman Patwary on last Sunday on the occasion of the Eid-Ul-Fitr. On the occasion , a function was held at the campus of Upazila Awami League Office. Former UP Chaiman Md Ataur Rahman presided over the meeting. Upazila Awami League Vice-Chaiman Dr. Siddikur Rahman Patwary was present as a Chief Guest and upazila Mukhtijoddah Commander Md Shamsul Haque, former upazila Mahila Vice-Chairman Mamtaz Esarat were present as special guests. This function was conducted by Md Zakir Hossain Sarker. Chief guest gave to all 167 freedom fighters a packet of Eid-materials and a piece of cloth each with his own taka. He also arranged a launch party at his own house on Eid-day in honour of freedom fighters. Dr. Siddikur Rahman said, I distributed these things for honour and dignity of freedom fighters.
College student dies in road accident in Baraigram
A college student Abdul Alim (18) died and another three were seriously injured in a road accident in Baraigram on Eid-day. Abdul Alim is a son of Mozibur Rahman of the village Chargabindapur under Baraigram upazila. Another injured college students were Masud (19), Topu (18) and Royhan (20). Masud took admission in Rajshahi Medical College Hospital and Topu, Royhan in Bonpara Patwary General Hospital in a critical condition. Abdul Alim with his friend Masud was going to Dashuria by motor-cycle. When he reached at Razapur, a collision was happened with another motor-cycle face to face.
Man jailed by mobile court in Baraigram
A man Alamgir Hossain (20) was jailed by a mobile court in Baraigram on Monday. Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Nirbahi Magistrate Mst. Sharifunnesa sentenced six months jail for smoking ganja. Police Officer Krisno Mohon arrested Alamgir from Bonpara Pouro town during ganja smoking. Alamgir is a son of Abul Hossain of the village Kalikapur under Baraigram upazila.
Youth commits suicide in Kurigram

One youth came to the house of his grand father-in law in Kurigram Sadar upazila as guest where he was committed suicide in hanging himself at night on Wednesday.He was identified as Nur Islam 22 son of Mohuber Rahman of village sarpukur under Lalmonirhar Sadar upazila.Police sources said Nur Islam came to the house of his grand father-in-law late Azizar Rahman on Eid Day of village Sukan Digirpar of Uttar Kumarpur under sadar upazila. He slept at night after taking rice. The inmates of his grand father-in-law’s house called him in the morning but when they received no sound they entered into the room breaking open the door and found his hanging dead body.Officer-in-charge of Kurigram Sadar police station Abdul Baten told that it may be occurred due to family feud.
