Housewife killed in Sharankhola road mishap

Kamala Begum (40), wife of one Joynal Abedin of village Dwipchar under Sharankhola Upazila in Bagerhat district met her tragic end when she fell down from a speeding hired motor cycle at Khada under the same Upazila recently. Locals and the deceased’s family source informed that in the morning at 6 am the deceased went to Sharankhola Upazila Health Complex to visit some of her relatives who were admitted to the Health Complex for their treatment. After visiting the patients she was returning home by a hired motor cycle and when she reached the place of occurrence she fell down from the speeding motor cycle. As a result, she sustained fatal injuries on her head. At that time the motor cyclist fled away from there. Then some locals recovered the injured housewife and were taking her to Sharankhola Health Complex. But on her way to the Hospital she succumbed to her injuries.
Land registration hampered at Bhangura

In absence of sub-registrar, registration of land has been stopped for four weeks at Bhangura Registry office in Pabna district. The sub-registrar did not come to the office from April 19 to May 11. As a result, hundreds of deeds were not registered . Buyers and sellers come to the office everyday and they were being harassed. Local residents said that as a part of the nationalization process Haji Jamal Uddin Degree College is not able to perform the deed of gift registration as there was no sub-registrar. Md Moklesur Rahman Bachhu, General Secretary, Deed Writers Association said that the sub-registrar was not present one day in last fifteen days. Md Rafiqul Islam,Sub-registrar of Bhangura said that he is on a long leave because he is sick. Locals have urged for posting of a new sub-registrar immediately.
Student succumbs to injuries at SUST

A student of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology died at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital (SOMCH) on Wednesday afternoon, hours after he was found injured beside a rail track in Fenchuganj upazila of Sylhet. The deceased was Mostain Razzak Mamun, 22, a third-year student of electronics and electrical engineering. He used to live with his family at Sylhet Medical Colony and both his parents are physicians. Relatives said Mamun left home for university on Tuesday and remained traceless till yesterday noon. They got the news of his death in the afternoon. Officer-in-Charge of Sylhet Railway Police Station Jahangir Hossain said locals saw him lying injured near the rail track in Maijgaon area around 12:00pm and rushed him to SOMCH where doctors declared him dead. Victim’s father Dr Abdur Razzak, a physician of the hospital, claimed that his son might have been killed as marks of beating injuries were found on his body.
‘Ekti Bari, Ekti Khamar Project can revitalize silk sector’
Rajshahi: Time has come to make the best uses of the ‘Ekti Bari, Ekti Khamar (One Homestead, One Farm)’ project towards reviving the lost glory of the sericulture sector for strengthening the agro-based economy of the region. The ‘Ekti Bari, Ekti Khamar’ project could be effective means of revitalize the silk sector as it is now facing an embarrassing situation due to various reasons. The government has taken the project to help stimulate rural economy for improving living standard of the people. All officials concerned to work for successful implementation of both the projects to make a dent in the labyrinth of poverty by infusing dynamism into the rural economy, reports BSS.
