Bkash agent mugged of Tk 4.5 lakh in Jhenidah

Miscreants in Shailkupa upazila under Jhenidah had mugged of Taka 4.5 lakh on Thursday evening at Kachua bazar. The victim is identified as Mohammad Qamruzzaman. The police could not trace the muggers till Thursday night. Shailkupa police sub inspector Ashikur Rahman said, Mohammad Qamruzzaman was marching towards Sailkupa upazila head quarters on his motorbike from Kachua Bazar under the upazila. At about 7.00 PM, when he arrived near Puratan Bakharba in same upazila, a gang of miscreants numbering 4 to 5 had stopped his bike and mugged Taka 4.5 lakh at gun point. The police said, the miscreants had taken possession there to mug the Bkash man. A case was filed with Shailkupa police in this connection. The police have been investigating the matter to nab the muggers at any cost, the police said.

Harinakundu Jamaat Ameer arrested again

 Jhenidah police once again arrested the ex chairman of Harinakundu upazila parishad and Jamaat lAmeer Motahar Hossain from near the district prison on Thursday night at aroind 7-30 pm. He was returning home when he was released on bail in vandalize, damage and setting fire on government properties cases. Harinakundu police officer in charge Ershadul Kabir Chowdhury said, Motahar was wanted in vandalize, damage and setting fire on government properties cases during the past anti-government movement jointly conducted by the BNP, Jamaat and Shibir in Harinakundu and surrounding areas.
He is Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer and also the prime organizer in his party. As he was wanted, the police had arrested him once again from near the district prison. Mention may be made here that the Jamaat-Shibir on February 3 in last year had beaten and chopped to death a police constable Omar Farooque at the upazila parishad complex during a hartal hours. Omar Farooque was performing his duty at the upazila parishad complex then. Motahar Hossain was released on bail after a period in the prison as the prime accused, OC said.

BGB hauls arms, ammos at Benapole

Members of 26 Border Guard Battalion by Subader Rafiq seized a 9mm pistol, a magazine and one round of bullet raiding Sadipur Galachipa frontier under Benapole port police station on Friday night. Lieutenant Colonel Matiur Rahman, director, 26 Border Guard Battalion, Jessore told New Nation that tipped the BGB personnel carried out a raid at Sadipur Galachipa frontier at around 11pm on Friday and seized the arms and ammunition in an abandoned condition. ‘The arms were recovered after chasing smugglers along the border,’ the BGB battalion chief added. He also said the BGB men could not be able to catch the arms smugglers as they fled to India being chased by the BGB men leaving the arms abandoned. A case was filed with Benapole port police station on Saturday in this connection.

Iftar Mahfil held at Rampal

A Iftar Mahfil for rural people was arranged by Social Service and Development Organisation (SSDG) on Thursday at Baitul Falah Mosque of Baruipara village of the Upazilla. More than hundred people were attended the Iftar Party. It is patronized by the Chief Patronizer of SSDG and lecturer of Rampal College Md. Saiful Alam(Boktier) every year. Member of SSDG Shamim Hasan Shimul , Sk. Sohag , Sk. Saheen , Md. Abu Bakar , Ruhul Amin ,Nurul Islam , Mukto , Sk. Rasel , Khan Bashir Ahmed were also present in the Iftar Mahfil.
