Daring burglaries committed

Two daring burglaries were committed in a Bkash centre cum mobile shop and a shop of pesticides cum poultry and fish feed in C & B Bazar within Rakhalgachi Union Parishad under Sadar Upazila in Bagerhat district on Saturday night and the burglars looted cash and kinds worth Tk.10 lakh . Locals said that at the dead of night the a gang of burglars raided the Bazar and entered into a pesticide cum fish and poultry feed shop belonging to one Shahidul Islam after breaking open its window and then they waited there for long and from there they broke 10 inch thick pucca wall of its attached Bkash centre belonging to one Dipankar Das with modern devices and looted cash Tk.7 lakh and new and valuable mobile sets and other valuables worth Tk.10 lakh after breaking open the iron safe, though there are nights guards to watch the Bazar at night. The burglars also looted the cash box of the pesticide shop. Following the committing of such daring burglaries in the heart of the Bazar a strong resentment was created among the shop keepers over the night guards. Kazi Zahid Sarwar Titu, General Secretary of the Traders’ Association of the Bazar and a member of Bagerhat Zila Parishad told, legal action will be taken in this respect. IC of Chulkathi police outpost visited the place of occurrence.
Boy drowns in Chuadanga

A minior boy drowned in a pond at Gorchapra in Alamdanga upazila under Chuadanga district on Sunday evening. The deceased was identified Sanjat Rahman (12), son of Polash Ali of Sanarhuda village in the district. Family sewers said the junior boy was playing beside the pond when he fell into it and drowned.
Semi Divisional School debate contest held
NARSINGDI: Semi Divisional final debate competition “Bitarka Bikash” 2015 and 2016 for non-government Secondary School students was held at Pantchdona Sir KG Gupta High School, of the district on Monday. To make the student studious, good orator and help them flourish their talent, BRAC, a non-government organization under its Post Primary Basic and Continuing Education Programme (PACE) in co-operation with Directorate of Secondary Education conducted the competition. Additional District Magistrate Mohammad Mozammal Hoque inaugurated the competition as the chief guest with Headmaster of Pantchdona Sir KG Gupta High School in the chair. The subjects of debate competition for 2015 was “Only the social awareness can prevent early marriage” and for 2016 “Only the investment can ensure sustainable development goal in education”, reports BSS.
Workshop on writing news, feature begins
NETRAKONA: A three day long training workshop on “Writing news and feature” for entrepreneurs of union digital centers (UDC) began here on Monday.Information and Communication Technology (ICT) division and TSB (Tathya Seba Barta Sangstha) in cooperation with A2i (Access to information) program of prime minister’s office organized the workshop at the conference room of the district circuit house. The workshop was designed to let the UDC entrepreneurs know the methods of writing news or reports and features on different success stories relating to works or programs of innovative and creative persons or organizations of the society and on-going development programs or development-oriented activities of the government, the organizers said., reports BSS.
