Farmer’s body recovered in Pabna
PABNA: Police recovered the body of a farmer from Hidaskol village under Atgharia upazila of the district this morning. Officer-in-charge of Atgharia Thana Anwarul Islam said that local people spotted the body of Sadek Ali 56, son of Tazul Islam in the morning and informed the police. Later, police recovered the body and sent it to Pabna General Hospital morgue. Police primarily suspected that Sadek might be strangulated to death by miscreants sometime last night and left the body in the field, reports BSS.
Remembrance of Lahirirhat genocide
RANGPUR: The local people still remember the horrific genocide of 32 ‘Musollis’ committed by the Pakistani occupation forces just after Juma prayers near Lahirirhat mosque under Sadar upazila here on May 7 in 1971. “Genocide of the ‘Musollis’ after Juma prayers at Lahirirhat factually unmasked the so called ‘religious’ face of the Pakistani junta,” said District Muktijoddha Commander Mosaddek Hossain Bablu. “The Lahirirhat genocide helped the common people irrespective of caste, creed and religion—- to easily understand the false propaganda conducted by the then Pakistani junta of saving Islam from the enemies —-,” he said. According to the book ‘Mukitjuddhe Rangpurer Itihas’ published by Rangpur district administration, the occupation forces came by four trucks got down in front of Lahirirhat Mosque and soon caught the Musollis just after Juma prayers on the day. “The innocent ‘Musollis’ soon started running all around to escape from the human beasts when 32 of them, including a father and his son, were caught by the occupation forces,” the book wrote, reports BSS.
Call to resist communal forces
Faridpur: Local Government, Rural Development (LGRD) and Cooperatives Minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain on Friday called upon all to forge a united resistance against communal forces for protecting sanctity of religious faiths in society. Addressing a function marking the 147th birth anniversary of Prabhu Jagatbandhu Sundar at Sreedham Sree Angon of the town, the LGRD minister said, “Bangladesh Awami League is a party of the common people. It is for all communities except the communal forces. We all should be united to resist the communal forces.” The program was organized by Mahanam Sampraday, Bangladesh. Mosharraf said every individual has the right to perform his own religion and tough measures will be taken against the elements responsible for creating anarchic situation in the name of religion. He said, “We will not tolerate any anarchic situation in the name of religion. Religion is individual affairs while the state is for all.” Presided by Sreemot Kantibandhu Brahmachari, LGED Chief Engineer Shyama Prasad Odhikari, Zila Parishad Chairman Lokman Hossain Mridha, Police Super Suvash Chandra Saha, district AL President Advocate Subol Chandra Saha, Faridpur Pourasabha Mayor Mahatab Ali Methu, spoke at the function as special guests, reports BSS.
Field school vital for disseminating modern farming tech
RAJSHAHI: Agricultural officials observed proper and effective functioning of the farmers field schools could be the vital means of disseminating modern technologies among grassroots farmers for the sake of boosting farming outputs. They termed the farmers as very important for the best uses of updated technologies. Farmers should be imparted training on balanced fertilizer use, soil health test, homestead gardening, judicious pesticide use, good poultry and cattle rearing and fish farming. They were addressing a field day meeting titled “Farmers Field School” at Huzripara village under Paba Upazila in the district yesterday afternoon. Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) organized the meeting in association with its Integrated Farm Management Component (IFMC). More than 300 farmers both male and female joined the programme sharing their field level farming experiences, , reports BSS.
