Turkey’s state-run news agency says detention warrants have been issued for 23 judges and prosecutors who have been dismissed from their posts.
Anadolu news agency said Saturday the warrants were issued for 17 judges and six prosecutors for “membership in an armed terror organization.” They are suspected of being followers of U.S.-based cleric Fethullah Gulen who the government says is behind the July 15 coup attempt.
Nepal court blocks impeachment of woman Chief Justice

Nepal’s Supreme Court on Friday blocked the government’s attempt to impeach the chief justice, a move that had prompted concerns the ruling coalition was seeking to undermine judicial independence.
The government filed a motion to impeach the country’s first female Chief Justice Sushila Karki last Sunday after the two main parties in the coalition accused her of political interference. The move came just days after Ms Karki overturned the government’s choice for chief of police. The order issued by the top court said that the government’s move went against “the spirit of the constitution”.
Japan, China agree to enhance cooperation

Japanese and Chinese finance ministers agreed on Saturday to enhance cooperation through bilateral dialogue on their economies and policy steps.
The two ministers also agreed to hold the next bilateral economic dialogue in 2018 in China, a joint statement issued after their meeting showed.
Mexico border drug violence death rises to 12

Gunbattles between rival drug gangs in the Mexican border city of Reynosa have left 12 people dead, authorities say.
The office of the security spokesman for the northern state of Tamaulipas said via Twitter that five people were killed in two gunbattles Thursday. Another seven people were killed earlier in the violence that began Tuesday. The disputes between rival factions of the Gulf cartel follow the killing of leader Julian Loisa Salinas, known as “Comandante Toro,” by military personnel in late April.
