A meeting of Jalalabad association was held on Saturday. The meeting take decision to help the people of haor area. They give relief worth Tk 10 lakh by upazila administration give help to students of the haor area. Collect relief and take part in rehabilitation programme. Jalalabad Association urge every well to do person to help the flood affected victims.
MATS students flame candle to press home 4-point demand

Hundreds of students of Medical Assistant Training School (MATS) in Jhenaidah have flamed candles at Jhenaidah Central Saheed Minar premises to press home their four-point demand on Wednesday evening. Bangabandhu diploma medical students association arranged the programme. Bangabandhu Diploma Medical Students Association Vice president Rafatuzzaman Pranta, Organizing Secretary Mahbub Talukder, Jhenaidah unit President Al Mahmud Piyas, General Secretary Abdullah Al Raju, women affairs secretary Shirin Sharmin and Jhenaidah unit president Sujan Sohan spoke among others. The MATS students urged upon the authority to fulfill their demand, otherwise they would go for tougher movement. They also condemned the attack on the students. The students announced for a long march towards Dhaka on March 6 next.
Smuggled drugs destroyed in Joypurhat
JOYPURHAT: Smuggled drugs worth about Taka 3.5 crore were destroyed at Cement factory field in the district on Wednesday. Executive magistrate Rehanul haque, commander of BGB-20 Battalion Lt Col Imtiaz Ahamed Chowdhury, deputy commander Major masrul SA Rumi and assistant director of Abu Sayed Mridha were present at the time of destroying the smuggled drugs. The destroyed drugs include 18-kg ganja, 51,947 bottles of Indian phensidyle, 24-litre liquid phensidyl, 485 bottles bear, 2,190 bottles local wine, 21,399 drug injections, syrap 322 bottles, 819 yaba tablets, different types indian medicine and 51470 packets explosive. The BGB-20 battalion recovered and seized the illegal drugs from different areas of the district.
One held with Indian medicines in Kushtia
KUSHTIA: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested an alleged smuggler along with smuggled Indian medicines from Kalisangkarpur in the district town on Tuesday evening.Tipped off, a team of Rab-12 conducted a drive at Kalisangkarpur around 7pm and arrested Anwar Hossain, son of Foyez Uddin Sheikh and seized 47,600 pieces of Sanagra pills, 75,700 pieces of Saridon tablets and other medicines, said Major Rabiul Islam, commanding officer of Rab-12, reports UNB.
