Two people were killed in a lightning strike at Mahinikati village in Jhikargacha upazila of Jessore districton Thursday Locals said Saiful Islam, 28, son of Shawkat Ali, and Shahid Hossain, 48, died on the spot when a streak of thunderbolt struck them while they were returning home from a field with cattle in the evening. Two cattle were also died in the incident.
3 arrested with bomb-making equipments in Savar
SAVAR: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested three militants with ‘pistol bomb’-making equipments at Village Line Paribahan in Rajfulbaria Bus Stand of Savar on Thursday 10pm. Savar Nabinagar RAB-4 said, RAB settled a check post in Rajbaria Bus Stand and searched the Village Line Paribahan Bus where RAB found three men with huge bomb making equipments, Jihadi books, 1 pistol and bullets. Company Commander of RAB-4 Major Abdul Hakim led the operation. Major Abdul Hakim said, “We primarily considered them as militants. We are questioning them. Robbers loot house in Gopalganj
GOPALGANJ: Robbers looted valuables, including gold ornaments and cash, from an expatriate’s house at Ramdia village in Kashiani upazila early Friday. Locals said 10-12 armed robbers swooped on the house of Jamal Minar, an expatriate living in Saudi Arabia, breaking open its collapsible gate around 12:15 am and held hostage its inmates at gunpoint. They later looted valuables, including gold ornaments and cash worth Tk 10 lakh, from the house and fled with the booty.
Two held with phensidyl in Sylhet

Members of Rapid Action Battalion arrested two alleged drug traders with 178 bottles of contraband phensidyl syrups from Mujumdarpara area in Sylhet city on Wednesday night. The arrested were identified as Samsul Islam, son of Mongai Miah of Dholyargawn and Sajedul Islam son of A Mutlib of Dholyargawn village under companygonj upazila in the Sylhet District. RAB- 9 Senior ASP and Senior AD Moinuddin Chowdhury informed that a press release. He said on receiving secret new a tem of RAB lead by ASP Pijush chandra Das Made and Operation in the west side of Majumdarpara Eidgah. RAB able to arrest two drug traders with 178 bottles of contraband phensidyl syrups. Later the arrested were hand over to Katwali police Station.
Ghorshal renamed as Sajina Union

Ghorshal union of Jhenaidah Sadar upazila was declared as Sajina Union by the Deputy Commissioner on Thursday afternoon. Deputy Commissioner Mahbub Alam Talukder declared the union transplanting a branch of sajina plat at Jaduria village in Ghorshal. Jhenaidah Sdar upazila agriculture officer Dr. Khan Mohammad Maniruzzaman, agriculture extension officer Rokanuzzaman, Ghorshal union parishad chairman Masud Parvez Liton, Jhenaidah press club joint secretary Foysal Ahmed among others remain present there. The chief guest said, sajina, its leafs and flower contain huge nutrition, amino acid and some herbal values protects the body from malnutrition, joint pain, blood pressure, kidney stone, constipation, diabetes and some other diseases. To ensure better health each and every house of the union will be brought under sajina plat transplantation activities within a few months, the chief guest said.
