Legal-Aid exchange view meeting held

Kishoreganj District legal-Aid committee organiaed an exchange view meeting on role of the panel lawyers to ensure speedy justice on the legal aid cases held at Judge court conference room on Tuesday. District and Session Judge AM Md Sayeed presided over the meeting. It was addressed among others by special Judge (women and children) Sadik Golam Sarowar, Additional District Judge Aziz Ahamed Bhuiyan, District Legal-Aid officer Mahamudul Hasan and senior Adv Dholon Bhomik. Some 30 penal lawyers were present in the view exchange meeting.
Diagnostic center sealed , fined in Barisal

A mobile court on Monday sealed and fined a diagnostic center in the city for operating illegally, irregularly, substandard and cheating with patients. Md. Qamaruzzaman, administrative magistrate, led the mobile court accompanied by Asif Ahmed, another administrative magistrate. Court sources said after receiving different allegations from the patients the court raided the Asia Diagnostic Center at Sagordi area of the city. During the raid the allegations of the patients found fact and mismanagements and Mohammand Hossain, owner of the diagnostic center failed to produce any valid legal documents and apertures to operate the center. Then the court sealed the Asia Diagnostic Center and fined its owner Tk 50,000, court sources said.
Arms, bullets recovered , 3 held in Jhenidah

Police recovered a pipe gun, one round bullet, six machetes and 3 dacoits were held from Goyeshpur village under sadar upazila of the district on Sunday night. The arrestees are Jahid Hossain, son of Akkas Ali of Goyeshpur village, Sabuj Hossain son of Mahtab Uddin and Biplob Hossain son of Nur Nabi of Korapara village of the upazila. SI Moklesur Rahman of Detective Branch (DB) of Jhenidah said, a group of bandits were taking preparation for committing robbery at Goyeshpur village on Sunday night at around 11-00 pm. On information they launched a drive at the village and arrested three dacoits and recovered a pipe gun, one round bullet, six machetes from their possessions. They are the accused of different cases, police said.
Leading University delegation calls on president

A delegation of Leading University, Sylhet, led by its trustee board chairman Dr Ragib Ali, made a courtesy call on President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban in the capital Sunday, During the meeting, the delegation apprised the President of the activities of the university. They informed the President that currently, some 4,500 students have been studying in seven departments under four faculties of Leading University, Sylhet. The President underscored the need for imparting quality education and urged the university authorities to increase facilities for the students including the residential ones. BGB recovered 5,450 pieces of intoxicating injection Buprenorphine worth Tk. 8,17,500 from Telkupi village under Shibganj upazila in Chapainawabganj district on Sunday noon. Additional Director of 9 battalion of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) BGB in Chapainawabganj Sheikh Mohammad Mizanur Rahman said, acting on secret information, a team of BGB of Monakasha company raided Telkupi village at 11-30 am and seized the pieces of injection in an abandoned condition.
Human chain in Thakurgaon protesting Israeli attack on Gaza

Udichi Shilpi Goshthi Thakurgaon Unit formed a human chain at Thakurgaon chowrasta on Sunday noon protesting the attack of Israel on Gaza. The human chain lasted for one hour was addressed by President Thakurgaon Unit of Udichi Shilpi Goshthi Setara Begum, General Secretary Rizwanul Haque Rizu, Thakurgaon Press Club President Akhtar Hossain Raza, Ward Councilor of Thakurgaon Pourasava Droupadi Debi Agarwala, Educationist Kamal Kumar Roy and Journalist Abu Torab Manik. The speakers condemned the attack of Israel on the innocent people of Palestaine. They also condemned the US President Barak Obama for supporting Israel. They urged upon the Secretary General of UN Ban Ki Moon to take immediate fruitful step to stop Israeli aggression.
