Pahela Baishakh, the first day of Bengali New Year was observed in Jhenaidah with festive mood. Rally, discussion meeting and cultural events were arranged to mark the day. A colourful rally, better known as Mangal Shovajatra, headed by Jhenaidah district Awami League president and lawmaker of Jhenaidah-1 (Sailkupa) Abdul Hyee paraded the town with masks, dolls, birds and pother Bengali culture were demonstrated during the rally started and ended at old DC Court Jhenaidah town. A number of government and non-governmental organizations, cultural organizations participated in the rally.
Workshop on` early marriage protection’ held

A workshop on` Early Marriage Protection’ was held at upazila campus in Baraigram upazila of Natore district on Saturday. The workshop was presided over by UNO Ishrat Farzana. The chief guest was Natore Deputy Commissioner Shahina Khatun. The special guests were Natore Deputy Director of Local Government A.K.M Azadur Rahman, Upazila Chairman Doctor Md Siddikur Rahman Patwary, Bonpara Pouro Mayor K.M. Jakir Hossain. It was also addressed among others by Upazila Mahila Vice-Chairman Helena Begum, Principal of Bonpara Saint Joseph’s School and College Father Lazarush Rozario, Thana Officer in Charge (OC) Md Shahariar Khan, Marriage Register Kazi Abdullah, Imam Abul Hossain and student Sumaiya Khatun. Chairmen of Union Parishad, teachers, students, Imams, journalists and local elite were present in the workshop. It was conducted by Mahila Affairs Officer Rashida Parvin. Speakers said different ways and opinions to protect the early marriage.
Meet on working NGO’s for improve quality edn held

To create a network for ensuring quality education in Rangpur Division, a day-long meeting on “Working NGO’s for improve quality education in Rangpur Division,” was held at conference room of Plan International Bangladesh Rangpur Divisional Office. In collaboration with Divisional Education Department of Rangpur, Plan International Bangladesh Rangpur Divisional Office organized the event. MahbubElahi, Deputy – Director, Primary Education, Rangpur was present as chief guest. M. Siddiqul Islam, Inspector of School, Secondary and Higher Education, Rangpur was present as special guest while Md. Abdul Quddus, Divisional Manager of Rangpur Plan International Bangladesh chaired the event.
“Congratulation Plan International Bangladesh to organize such innovative event. I think this initiative will transform into a national level initiative in future. I request all of you to work in a coordinated way to ensure quality education through sharing good practices and organize exchange programme visit,” said Chief guest.
The event started with a welcome speech by Md. Abdul Quddus, Divisional Manager of Plan International Bangladesh Rangpur Divisional Office. The daylong learning sharing workshop also included a presentation byDr. Hrishikesh Sarker, Programme Manager on Education Programme of Plan International Bangladesh.Furthermore, the event also provided a platform for development organization to share their views and learning. In the meeting every participant present their activities related to education programme. After presentation open discussion session held where participants shared their opinion to form a network to ensure quality inclusive education in Rangpur Division. Finally, convenor committee was formed consisted with 8 members. Deputy – Director, Primary Education of Rangpur will act as advisor of this committee.
