6 held with hemp, phensidyl in Benapole
BENAPOLE: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and police in separate drives arrested six alleged drug peddlers, including two women, in possession of two kilograms of hemp and 135 bottles of Indian Phensidyl syrup from different areas of the border point here on Friday night. The arrestees were identified as Shila Begum,22, wife of Jahangir Hossain, a resident of Goura village, Sabrina Begum,25, wife of Matlab, a resident of Raghunathpur village, Ramzan Morol,38, son of Nazrul Morol, a resident of Bhabarber village, Mahiuddin,23, son of Sahab Uddin, a resident of Shikarpur village under Port thana, and Shahidul,40, son of Romej Morol, a resident of Beneali village in Jhikargachha upazila of Jessore district and Bipul Biswas,35, son of Iman Ali, a resident of Shailkupa upazila in Jhenidah district. Apurba Hasan, officer-in-charge of Benapole Port Police Station, said on secret information, the BGB members and police launched drives separately in two different areas and arrested them. They also recovered two kilograms of hemp and 135 bottles of Phensidyl syrup from the arrestees’ possession, reports UNB.
Doa, Iftar Mahfil held in Nandail

A Doa, Iftar Mahfil was held at Borail Bazar under Rajgathi Union organised by Borail BNP Unit led by Md. Khorram Khan Choudhury ex MP , Nandail & Ishwarganj, convenor of Mymensingh district BNP (North) . Md. Ataur Rahman Bulbul presided over the Mahfil. It was addressed by Md. Abul Kalam Azad, convenor of Nandail Upa-zilla BNP Joint convenor Md. Enamul Khader, Joint convenor Md. Nuruddin Bhuyian, Joint convenor Md. Kamrujaman Badal, Mrs. Tahmina Akater Ripa, Convenor women BNP Md. Mizanur Rahman Rukon. Among others Md. Furkhan Uddin President Musuli Union BNP, BNP leaders Md. Jewel, Md. Abdul Hannan, Md. Ful Mia were present. The function was conducted by Md. Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan Rukan, General secretary, Rajgathi Union BNP.
District admin hosts Iftar party in Netrakona

Netrakona district administration hosted an Iftar party for public representatives, government officers, political leaders, civil society members and journalists at the conference room of Netrakona circuit house here yesterday. The deputy minister for youth and sports Arif Khan Joy, Chabi Biswas MP, district and session judge Netrakona, Mohammad Amirul Islam, deputy commissioner Netrakona DR Torun Kanti Shikder, police super Netrakona Jakir Hussain Khan were ,among others, attended the Iftar Party. A special prayer was offered there seeking divine blessings for progress and prosperity of the nation and welfare of the mankind.
United social resistance stressed
Speakers at a discussion meeting on ” the networks of district Community policing cell” underlined the need for building up a social movement side by side of raising united resistance against anti-social activities including crimes, terrorism, drug-trading or drug-trafficking, women repression and gambling in order to keep the society free from all sorts of social crimes. They also stressed the need for bringing back misguided or spoiled teen -aged boys or youngsters to the normal life through utilizing the methods of proper counseling and motivation to stop the social crimes including drug-addiction, gambling, and terrorism. Netrakona district police department organized the meeting at the conference of the police office here on Sunday last to discuss the matters relating to the methods of gearing up the networks of district community policing cell and keep the society free from crime and terrorism and other subversive activities. Additional deputy inspector general (DIG) of police Shafiqul Islam addressed the meeting as chief guest while police super Netrakona Jakir Hussain Khan was in the chair. The meeting was addressed, among others, by additional police super Netrakona Abdul Mumen, prominent physician and president of the district community policing cell DR MA Hamid, commander of district Muktizoddha Sangsad Nurul Amin, prominent Social worker Begum Rokeya, general secretary of Netrakona press club Muklesur Rahman Khan and elderly school teacher Saidur Rahman.
