Woman tries to commit suicide being harassed by police

A 5-month pregnant woman who tried to commit suicide having poison after repeated harassments by Detective Branch of the police on Monday morning. The victim, Sabina Yeasmin,32, wife of Abdul Gafur of Sheikhhati under Kotwali police station is now undergoing treatment at medicine ward of Jessore General Hospital, hospital sources said.
Sabina Yeasmin told newsmen at the hospital that she tried to commit suicide after having pesticide on Monday morning after repeated harassments by Biplob Hossain, sub inspector, detective branch and Alamgir Hossain, assistant sub inspector of the branch although her husband have changed his lifestyle leaving drugs after surrendering to the home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal at a rally arranged by Jessore police at Jessore Zila School on march 16. The rally was arranged to make people conscious against drug and militancy. A total of 866 suspected drug traders surrendered to the home minister at the rally. Sabina claimed that her husband was shown arrested along with 5,000 pieces of Yaba tablets as on March 24 as they she failed to pay Tk 10 lakh demanded by sub inspector Biplob Hossain and Alamgir Hossain.
Local Govt Division exchanges views with Mayors

Local Government Division arranged an exchange views meeting on sustainable development programme with eight poura mayors, chief executive officer, executive engineer, town planner, poura secretary in Kishoreganj district at local collectorate conference hall on Monday. Senior Additional Secretary & Director General of Municipal, Upazila Wing A.S.M Mahabubl Alam attended as Chief Guest while Acting Deputy Commissioner Torafder Md. Akhte Jamil presided over. LGED (Bridge) Project Director Md. Selim Miah and Zila Parishad C.E.O & Deputy Secretary Shibir Bichitro Baruea attended as special guest. It was addressed among others by Kishoreganj Poura Mayor Md. Pervez Miah, Bhairab Mayor Adv Fakrul Alam Akkas, Hossainpur Mayor Abdul Kaiqume Khokon, Karimganj Mayor Abdul Kaiqume, Pakundia Mayor Akhteruzzaman Khokan, Public Health Executive Engineer Md. Tozzamel Haque, Sadar UNO Abdullah-al-Masud, Senior Megistrate Shamima Yesmin and RDC Hasina Akhter. District Freedom Fighter Commander Md. Asadullah, CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito and local daily newspaper editors were also present. Later, Senior Additional Secretary A.S.M. Mahabubul Alam also visited the Narsundha Lake City Project, Poura Development Projects and Fresh Water Treatment Plant.
Art competition on World Autism Awareness Day held

Disabled Child Foundation (DCF) jointly organised an art competition with the assistance of Department of Social Welfare , Lalmonirhat at Intellectually Disabled School, Lalmonirhat Sadar under its project of `To ensure inclusive and Quality Education for Students with Disabilities Through Advocacy and Capacity Building Programs’ to celebrate the `World Autism Awareness Day, 2017′. The theme of the Autism Awareness Day of this year is “Toward Autonomy and Self-Determination”. The programme was presided over Deputy Director, Social Welfare , Lalmonirhat, Mr. Md. Mosharraf Hossain. Deputy Commissioner of Lalmonirhat District Abul Faiz Md. Alauddin Khan attended the programmed as chief guest. As special guests there was present Police Super of Lalmonirhat Mr. S.M. Rashidul Haq, Civil Surgeon of Lalmonirhat Dr. Md. Amiruzzaman, Captain (Retd.)
