Huge illegal drugs seized from pharmaceutical company

Drug administration authority accompanied by law enforcers seized huge illegal drugs from Medimet Pharmaceuticals Limited at Rupatali area of Barisal city on Saturday afternoon. Tanvir Ahmed, supervisor of drug administration office Barisal, said during the drive they seized 3465 bottles syrups and 28,000 capsules of antibiotic Amoxicillin group under brand name Hyconcil. The High Court in a verdict announced production of this kind of antibiotic prohibited and violating the court order and drug act the date of production was marked as June 2016 while those were produced on Saturday, the drug official told. After ending the drive the seized drugs were produced before a mobile court led by administrative magistrate and assistant commissioner for land Nazmul Hussain Khan. Abu Moin Ahmed Chowdhury, plant manager of the company acknowledged their offence. Then the court ordered to destroy the seized drugs immediately and fined the drug producer company Tk. 20 thousand.
UGC Chairman inaugurates Sylhet Agri University IQAC Office

New office of Interventional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Sylhet Agriculture University was inaugurated on Friday. UGC Chairman Professor Abdul Mannan formally inaugurate the office. University media and Publication department confirmed it. The office maintain standard of this varsity. Its office is in the 4th floor of new veterinary and animal Science faculty. After inauguration a workshop on Enhancing quality of higher Education through self assessment was held. UGC chairman professor Abdul Mannan was the chief guest and inaugurate the workshop. Two scientific article were presented. Varsity register Badrul Islam, Deans, Chairman’s of Various department, Director, Proctor and Provosts were present here.

3 drug traders arrested in Chitalmari along with 400 pieces Yaba

Police of Chitalmari PS raided 2 separate places of Chitalmari Upazila on Thursday night and arrested 3 persons along with 4 hundred pieces of Yaba tablets. The arrested persons were sent to the jail hajat through the court. It is learnt from the police that acting on secret information a police squad led by ASI Shaikh Ahaduzzaman of Chitalmari PS raided Char Chingri village of the Upazila and arrested one Alam Shaikh (48) of the village and one Dulal Shikdar (55) of village Sree-ramkandi under the adjacent Tungipara Upazila (in Gopalganj district) along with 4 hundred pieces of Yaba tablets. In this connection a case was lodged with Chitalmari PS against the two under Narcotics Act.
