A day-long learning sharing workshop on” age verification and online marriage registration through mobile phone,” was held at RDRS Conference Room Rangpur. Divisional ommissioner Rangpur organised the event with the support of Global Affairs Canada and Plan International Bangladesh. The objective of the workshop was to expand the learning across the division which was gathered during the implementation of this intervention in Rangpur and Nilphamari district. Abdul Hamid, Director-General, Governance Innovation Unit, Prime Minister’s Office was present as chief guest while Kazi Hasan Ahmed, Divisional Commissioner Rangpur presided the event. Md. Mostafijur Rahman, Director (Innovation), Access to Information (A2i) Programme, Prime Minister’s Office, Mr. Christian Tardif, Director, Development Programme, Canadian High Commission, Bangladesh and Mr. Soumya Brata Guha, Country Director, Plan International Bangladesh was present as special guest. The event started with a welcome speech by Md. Abdul Mojid, Additional Divisional Commissioner (Revenue). The daylong learning sharing workshop also included a presentation by Abdul Quddus, Divisional Manager of Rangpur (Plan International Bangladesh) on Plan International Bangladesh and the experience which was gathered so far from this programme. Furthermore, the event also provided a platform for adolescent mothers and girls to speak out regarding effects and prevention of child marriage.
Two held with liquor in Sylhet

Police arrested two alleged drug pedlars along with 65 litres of liquor from Nidanpur in Beanibazar upazila of Sylhet district on Monday.Tipped off, police conducted a drive in the evening and arrested Nazrul Islam, 18, and Ainul Islam, 18, residents of Borolekha upazila, with the liquor, said Chandan Kumar Chakrabarty, officer-in-charge of Beanibazar Police Station. They also seized a CNG-run auto-rickshaw carrying them.A case has been filed.
Sewing machines distributed among women at Gafargaon

On the occasion of the Independence Day , sewing machines were distributed among 40 helpless women are distributed at Gafargaon under Mymensingh recently. These sewing machines were distributed at Longair Union Parishad of Gafargaon Upazila financed by LGSP. Local MP Fahmi Golandaz Babel was the Chief Guest and gave away sewing machines to the women. A discussion meeting was held at the premises of Longair Union Office. Union Parishad chairman Abdullah Al Amin Biplob presided over the function. Upazila Chairman Asraf Uddin Badal, Gafargaon Pouro Mayor S.M. Ikbal Hossain Sumon, UNO Shiddhartha Shonkor Kundu, Saltia Union Chairman Nazmul Haque Dhali, Personal Secretary of local MP, Masud Hossain Sohel and OC Chan Mea of Pagla Thana delivered their speeches in the function.
