World Water Day observed in C’nawabganj

 With the slogan ‘save rivers to save Bangladesh’ World Water Day-2017 was observed in a befitting manner in Chapainawabganj on Wednesday. Chapainawabganj district administration arranged a colourful procession and a discussion meeting in association with the Chapainawabganj district office of the Water Development Board (WDB) and Development Association for Self-reliance, Communication and Health (DASCOH) on the occasion. The procession was taken out from the deputy commissioner’s office and after parading the main roads of town it ended at the same venue.
Later a discussion meeting was held at the conference room of the deputy commissioner with the deputy director (Local Government) Md. Abu Jafar in the chair. It was addressed among others, by the deputy commissioner Md. Mahmudul Hasan as chief guest, executive engineer of WDB Engineer Syed Shahidul Alam, executive engineer of Local Government Engineer Department (LGED) Engineer Siddiqur Rahman Bhuyan, executive engineer of Barendra Multipurpose Development Authority (BMDA) Engineer Harun Or Rashid, executive engineer of the Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE) Engineer Bahar Uddin Mridha, Executive Engineer of Chapainawabganj Municipality Engineer Sadequl Islam and Regional Coordinator of DASCOH Khairul Islam.
World TB Day observed in Gaibandha
GAIBANDHA: The World Tuberculosis Day-2017 was observed in all seven upazilas of the district today as elsewhere in the country with the theme ‘Unite to End TB’. Marking the day, District Health Department chalked out elaborate programmes in cooperation with different NGOs in a befitting manner. In morning, a colorful procession was brought out from the Civil Surgeon (CS) office that ended at the same venue parading the main roads of the town. The participants of the rally carried banners, festoons, placards with anti TB slogans to create awareness among the people.
Later, a discussion meeting was also held at the conference room of Civil Surgeon office with CS Dr. Amir Ali in the chair. Superintendent of Gaibandha Modern Hospital Dr. Nuruzzaman Ahmed addressed the meeting as the chief guest while president of NATAB, district unit, Dr. Shamsuzzoha Khandkar was present as the special guest, reports BSS.
Independence Day programmes in Netrakona
NETRAKONA: Preparations are afoot here to celebrate the Independence and National Day on March 26 in a befitting manner and with pomp and gaiety. Different socio-cultural organizations, political parties including Awami League, professional groups and educational institutions have chalked out separate programmes to celebrate the day. Meanwhile, Netrakona district administration has designed an elaborate programme in line with the national programme to mark the day. The observance will begin through heralding 31 gun salutes by a smartly contingent of police and placing wreaths at the monument of martyred freedom fighters by deputy commissioner of Netrakona on the premises of Collectorate building at dawn. As part of the programme, the national flag will be hoisted atop of all the public and private buildings in the morning. A colorful combined parade of police, Ansar, BNCC, boys scout, girl guides and children of different educational institutions and juvenile clubs will be held on local Muktarpara ground in the morning. A reception will be accorded to the freedom fighters at local public hall under the auspices of the district administration at 11.30 am. The district administration and district information offices will arrange screening of documentary films on “Liberation War” for school children at local Hiramon Cinema hall at noon. Improved diets will be served among the inmates of jails, hospitals and orphanage children family centers in the district. The district administration will arrange a discussion meeting and musical soirees on “patriotic songs” at local public hall in the evening, reports BSS.
Apart from these, special prayers will be offered at all mosques, temples and churches and other places of worships seeking divine blessings for peace, progress and prosperity of the nation.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Musfiqur Rahman urged the local people from all walks of life to attend all the programmes and extend their whole-hearted co-operation to the district administration for making all the programmes successful.
