Two children drowns in Chapainawabganj

Two children died by drowning in a pond at Chatrajitpur Fultala village under Shibganj upazila in Chapainawabganj district on Friday noon. They were identified as Munni, 12, daughter of Masud Rana and Sabina Khatun, 9, daughter of Mehedi Hasan of the aforesaid area. Police and local sources said, the two children went to the pond to take bath at noon and at one stage they drowned. Later, their family members and the locals recovered the dead bodies.
Father kills son in Sylhet

Police recovered the body of a eight-year-old boy from Kushiara river in Beanibazar upazila of Sylhet district on Thursday. The deceased is Jakir Hossain, son of Kutil Mia, 35. Locals said, Kutil wanted to marry his sister-in-law. He had a fight with his wife over the matter and to teach a lesson to his wife he dumped his son in the river on Monday night. Later, the body was recovered from Kushiara river after on Thursday. Beanibazar police station Officer-in-Charge Abul Kalam Azad confirmed about the body recovery to The New Nation. He said: ‘Kutil has been detained in connection to the incident.’
Tri-annual confce of Gano Natya Sangstha held in Barisal

The tri-annual conference of Gano Natya Sangstha held at its office in Anami Lane area of Barisal city on Friday. Participants of the conference called to spread native culture for reflecting mass issues and problems through drama. The programme was presided over by Prof.Shah Azizur Rahman Khokan, president of GNS with freedom fighter Prof. Abdus Sattar as chief guest. Alam Mazhar, general secretary of the unit presented three-year report of the executive committee discussed among others by Prof. Jalilur Rahman, Prof. Nripendranath Baroi, Vice Principal Harunur Rashid, Gopal Karmakar. At the end of the conference a 27-member executive committee with reelecting Prof. Shah Azizur Rahman Khokan and Alam Mazhar as president and secretary and a 9-member advisory committee of the unit was formed.
Man kills two wives in Rangpur

A man hacked his two wives to death at Ruposhi village under Mithapukur upazila of Rangpur district on Thursday night over a family feud. The dead were identified as Momena Begum, 40, and Makchhuda Begum, 35, wives of Ilias Ali of the village.Police and witnesses said Ilias entered the room of his second wife Makchhuda at about 11:00pm and hacked her with an axe.Hearing Makchhuda’s screams, Momena, first wife of Ilias came forward to rescue her.Ilias also hacked her with the axe leaving both of them dead on the spot.
Later, neighbours caught Ilias Ali from the spot and handed him over to police.Rabiul Alam, Officer in Charge of Mithapukur police station said being informed police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies. Police sent the bodies to Rangpur Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy on Friday morning.
