Workshop on land zoning held in Barisal

A day-long divisional workshop for land zoning held at Barisal Circuit House on Wednesday stressing to ensure using of limited land resource with proper planning. Md. Shamsul Islam Sharif, state minister of land ministry inaugurated the programme as Chief Guest. Barisal Divisional Commissioner Md. Gaus presided over the programme while Mahfuzur Rahman, chairman land reform board and Shawkat Akbar, project director attended as special guests. Officials related with land and general administration, environment, agriculture participated in the workshop. The chief guest and other speakers of the programme stressed on proper use of land in our densely populated with limited land resource country said, more than 1200 people living on per square kilometer of land in Bangladesh, which was only 312 in India and about 100 in China. The officials said this land zoning project launched from 2012 and land zoning map and documentation ended in 43 upazilas in the country. They suggested to enact ‘land users rules and regulations’ to protect agriculture lands .
Consumer Rights Day observed in Kishoreganj

Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB), National Consumer Association Protection (DNCRP) including District Administration jointly arranged a discussion, seminar, hand bill distributio and cultural function making the World Consumer Rights Day 2017 on Wednesday in district town and Upazila Headquarters. A discussion and seminar on to ensure consumer rights in digital Bangladesh was held at local collectorate conference room on Wednesday afternoon. ADC (G) Tarafder Md. Akhter Jamil attended as chief guest while Sadar UNO Abdullah-Al-Masud in the chair. DNCRP Senior Assistant Director Md. Ibrahim Hossion and CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito were special guest. It was addressed among others by R.S Ideal College Principale Gulshan Ara, Senior Megistrate Shamima Yesmin, Senior Medical Officer of Civil Surgeon Dr. Imran Hossion, Megistrate Rajibul Islam, CAB Secretary Monowar Hossaion Rony, Women Chamber Senior Vice-President Bilkis Begum, District Agri Bazar Officer Md. Abul Kashem, Chamber Director Paritosh Pall, Sadar CAB Convenor Professor Samiul Haque Mollah, BSCIC Senior Planning Officer Sirajul Islam, Bara Bazar Marchent Association President Al-Hajj Kamrul Hasan and its Secretary Md. Osman Goni. ADC (G) Tarafder Md. Akhter Jamil said the governent would take intiative to thwart any digital fraudulence as part of its effort to ensure consumer rights. Following the growing popularity of e-commerce these would be digital fraudulence. CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito said, referring to the government election manifesto in 2008, Consumer Rights Protection Law has been passed in 2009 and Food Safety Law 2013. The consumers to be careful to defend own rights.
Haor alliance workshop held
POPI REE-CALL project, an NGO its supported by Oxfam International a U.K and Australian- based donor agency arranged a workshop on REE-CALL project Haor Alliance held at POPI-House in the town on Wednesday. REE-CALL Project Manager Md. Mosharaf Hossain Khan presided over the workshop. It was addressed among others Hoar Specialist Prince Rafiq Khan, CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito, ELNHA Project Manager Kamrul Hossain, District Press Club President Mostafa Kamal, senior journalist Subir Basak, Reshma Pervin of POPI-REE-CALL, Hahangir Fakir of ARP, Airean Akhte and Md. Fakrul Islam of HILIP-LGED Project. CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito said that expected the government plans to develop further the socio-economic scenario of backward and low lying haor-region despite its complicated geographic features.
