Strengthening activities of the community policing committees involving the common people could play a vital role in maintaining law and order for resisting militancy and drug abuse to ensure sustainable social peace. The opinion came at the Community Policing followed by a views-sharing meeting held at Shahid Harun Park in the town of Gouripur Upazila of Mymensingh on Monday afternoon. Former mayor of Gouripur Municipality and President of Community Policing Upazila Committee Md. Shafiqul Islam Hobi chaired the meeting. Freedom fighter Alhaj Nazim Uddin Ahmed MP was Chief Guest. Mymensingh Range DIG Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun PPM attended also as chief speaker. Others who attended are : SP Syed Nurul Islam, UNO , Gouripur Upazila , Margina Akter, Upazila AL Senior Vice President Dr Helal Udden; Upazila AL General Secretary Bidhu Bhushan Das, ASP S A Niazi conducted the meeting. OC of Gouripur Thana Delewar Ahmed narrated activities of the women community policing committee as well as the overall activities of community policing in building crime-free society.
5 business establishments gutted at Noapara town

Properties worth Tk.20 lakh were completely gutted when a big fire broke out at Town Noapara bazar (near Katakhali) within Piljanga Union under Fakirhat Upazila in Bagerhat district on Sunday. Affected businessmen and the locals said that on the day at noon the fire originated from a shop belonging to one Sabuj in the Mihir Sarkar Market of the bazar while the gas pipes of a refrigerator were being repaired by an unskilled mechanic spread to its adjacent business establishments. At first the shopkeepers and the locals tried to extinguish the fire, but in vain. Moreover the fire went out of control within moments. Being informed of the matter a fire brigade unit rushed to the spot from Bagerhat and tried to bring the fire under control.
Agri Technology Fair begins in Kishoreganj

A three days Agriculture Technology Fair- 2017 organised by Agriculture Department begins at Local Stadium ground on Monday. Deputy Commissioner Md. Azimuddin Biswas inaugurated the Agri Fair. At least 25 Agri Stall set-up in the fair. A discussion meeting was held at its fair premises with Deputy Director of Agriculture Extension Department Md. Shafiqul Islam in the chair. It was addressed among others by District Awami League President Advocate Kamrul Hasan Shajahan, its General Secretary Advocate M.A Afzol, Sadar UNO Abdullah-Al-Masud, P.P Advocate Shah Azizul Haque, Dr. Shariful Islam Addtional Director of Agriculture Department, Md. Lutfur Rahman, Senior Scientific Officer of Jute Resurch and Farmer Farazuddin Ahamed. A colourfull rally brought out in the town.
E-govt network orientation course held
Kishoreganj District Administration organised a one day orientation workshop on e-Government Network with all District level Government officials conference room yesterday. Deputy Commissioner Md. Azimuddin Biswas attended as chief guest while ADC (Education & ICT) Golam Md. Bhuiyan in the chair.
