Youth held with arms, Yaba in Nikli

The members of Repid Action Bettalion (RAB) arrested a young man along with one gun, two bullets and 90 piece yeba tablets from Nansree area under Nikli Upazila of the district on Sunday midnight.
Tipped off a team of RAB- 14, Kishoreganj camp conducted a drive of Nansree in Nikli upazila and arrested Robbel (30), son of Akkas Ali a listed criminal. RAB- 14, Kishoreganj Camp Deputy Commander A.S.P Hafizur Rahman Babu led the raid. A case was filed in this connection with Nikli Police Station.
Digital Fair kicks-off in Sylhet

A three-day long Digital Innovation Fair-2017 began on the Muhammed Ali Gymnasium premises in the Sylhet City on Saturday. District administration organized the fair aiming to find out young talents and to create awareness among the people about on modern technologies. Sectary of Cabinet Division NM Ziaul Alam as chief guest, inaugurated the fair while Divisional Commissioner D. Nazmunara Khanum chaired the programme. District level officers, public representatives, students, locals, and civil society members were present at the inaugural session. Chairman of Sylhet Zilla Parished Lutfur Rahman, Central AL Organizing Sectary Misbah Uddin Siraj, A to I Developer Manik Mahmud were present at the programme as special guests.
9 dwelling houses gutted in Chitalmari

Some 9 dwelling houses were gutted when a devastating fire broke out in the village Baraguni-Madhyapara under Chitalmari Upazila in Bagerhat district on Saturday. It is learnt from the locals that on the day at noon the fire originated in one of the gutted houses from an electricity short circuit spread to its adjacent houses within moments and it went out of control. On seeing the flame of fire and on hearing hue and cries of the inmates the villagers rushed to the spot and tried to extinguish the same but in vain. Being informed of the matter a fire brigade unit rushed to the spot from adjacent Tungipara (Gopalganj district) and brought the fire under control with the help of the locals after a long fighting for about 2 hours. In spite of that all the 9 houses belonging to Farid Trafdar, Badar Tarafdar, Khalil Fakir, Milu Tarafdar, Wadud Tarafdar and Takir Tarafdar with their belongings were completely gutted. As a result, all the inmates of the gutted houses were rendered homeless. The loss of fire is primarily estimated at Tk.35/40 lakh.
 Another report states that one grocery shop and a hotel were completely and 2 other shops were partially gutted when a big fire broke out in Battala village market within Bemarta Union under Sadar Upazila in Bagerhat district on Thursday in the early hours. The cause of fire yet to be ascertained. The loss of fire was estimated at Taka more than one lakh.
