Fire was set on a saw mill belonging to Sahida Aktar, former Upazila Woman Vice-chairman of Kachua in Bagerhat district near at Signboard bazar under the same Upazila on Monday mid night by a gang of alleged miscreants, according to a report received here. On seeing the flame of fire a shopkeeper made hue and cry. On hearing the cry some locals rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control. The loss of fire has not yet been ascertained. In this connection no case was lodged till the writing of this report.
10 SSC examinees injured in road mishaps
Some 7 SSC examinees of Charbaniari High School within Charbaniari Union under Chitalmari Upazila in Bagerhat district were injured when their vehicle an easy bike met an accident at Dakatia on the way to Chitalmari Upazila headquarters on Monday morning. After attending the examination the injured examinees were given treatment in Chitalmari Upazila Health Complex on the same day. It is reported that on the day the ill-fated SSC examinees were going from Charbaniari to the examination centre at Chitalmari by an easy bike to attend the examination and when it reached the place of occurrence it suddenly turned turtle on the road side. As a result, SSC examinees Sweety Mondol, Chitra Samaddar, Nibas Dakua, Sagar Gharami, Joy Sarkar and Tushar Bala were seriously injured. Only 2 days ago of the incident when a battery run 3 wheeler van carrying the SSC examinees of the same High School turned turtle on the road at Charbaniari while examinees were going to Chitalmari SSC Examination centre. As a result, SSC examinees Debashis Mondol, Suman Shaikh and Mohidul Molla were seriously injured. At that time the left leg of Debashis Mondol was broken. A number of guardians of the SSC examinees of Charbaniari High School complained that their wards were forced to cross 13 kilometers long paths every to attend to their examination at Chitalmari. They added, besides this, they (wards) were to face various problems on their way to Chitalmari Examination centre. So, the urged the concerned authorities to set a SSC Examination centre at Charbaniari.
Advocacy meet on Info Act held

Information Commission of Bangladesh arranged an Public Advocacy meeting on Right to Information Act- 2009 at Local Art Council held on Tuesday morning. Chief Information Commissioner Professor Dr. Golam Rahman attended as chief guest while Sadar UNO Abdullah-Al-Masud in the chair.
It was addressed among others by Additional Police Super Md. Raqib Khan, Sadar Upazila Chairman Advocate Md. Shariful Islam, Family Planning Officer Md. Mizanur Rahman, Press Club Secretary Saiful Malek Chowdhury, CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito, Kishoreganj City Press Club Secretary Md. Anowarul Islam Bhuiyan and Town Planning Officer Farida.
All government, non-government officials, Poura Mayor, Union Chairmans, High School Headmaster, Primary Headmaster and Journalist were participants on the occasion.
College teacher jailed in cheque fraudulence case
Rajshahi : A trial court here today convicted a college teacher and sentenced her to suffer seven years jail in a Taka four crore cheque fraudulence case. The convict was identified as Shirin Sufia, a teacher in Department of Social Work of Rajshahi College. Joint Metropolitan Judge Shariful Islam found her guilty of the charge and pronounced the verdict in her presence. On October 4, 2014, her younger brother Obaidul Muktadir lodged a case against Shirin Sufia with Boalia Police Station. After completing investigation, police pressed charges accusing Shirin Sufia. Advocate Saidur Rahman Khan conducted the case on behalf of the plaintiff while Advocate Bishwajit defended the accused, reports BSS.
