Indian formalin and wine recovered in Chapainawabganj

12 litres of Indian formalin and 70 bottles of wine were recovered from 7 No Beribandh area under Chapainawabganj sadar upazila at early hours on Sunday. Second in Command of 9 battalion of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Major Sheikh Mohammad Mizanur Rahman said, acting on secret information, a patrol team of BGB of Bakharali Border Out Post raided the area at around 3 am and recovered the aforesaid formalin and wine in an abandoned condition. None was arrested in this connection, he added.
NGO official killed in Kurigram road mishap

One officer of Non- Government Organization Uddepon was killed and two others were injured in a road accident at Trimohoni area under Kurigram Sadar upazila in the evening on Sunday. He was identified as Sabuj Mia 34 of village Sarkarpara under Chilmari upazila of the district .Police and eye witnesses said , three persons were going to Kathalbari union under Sadar upazila riding a motor bike in the evening at 5.30 on Sunday. Another motor bike from their opposit direction collided head on with the motor bike causing they fell on the road at Trimohoni area.At that time a Kurigram bound passenger loaded speedy microbus coming from Rangpur run over them. Sabuj was immediately taken to Kurigram Sadar Hospital in critical condition where the attending doctors declared him dead. Two others injured Maruf and Sohel were injured who also serves in the NGO.Officer-in-charge of Kurigram Sadar police station Abdul Baten ensured the incident.
One held with pistol in Sherpur

One person was held with a pistol and two magzines at Sandhakura bridge area in Jhenaigati upazila of Sherpur district on Sunday evening.The arrestee was identified as Liton Chandra Coach(22) son of Gandhiram Coach at Rangtia village in Jhenaigati upazila under Sherpur district.On secret information Jhenaigati thana police and Sherpur DB police conducted a drive at Sandhakura area of Jhenaigati upazila and arrested Liton Chandra Coach with the pistol. It is also informed that Liton was treading of arms for a long time.Additional Police Super (ASP) Muhibul Islam Khan said , a gang may involve with it and it will come out after investigation.
National Fisheries Week observed in Gopalganj

The National Fisheries Week was begun with befitting manner in Gopalganj on Wednesday. District Administration and Fisheries Department, Gopalganj jointly brought out a colourful rally, the rally paraded main roads in the city. Local fisherman, political leaders, different high officials of the district, NGO’s and local elites were participated the rally. After the rally a discussion meeting was held at Gopalganj Sadar Upazila Parishad Auditorium in the city. Md Khalilur Rahman, DC, Md Mizanur Rahman (SP) and Chowdhury Emdadul Haque, Vice President District AL, Gopalganj present as the chief & special guests respectively. Md Shamim Haider, District Fisheries Officers, Gopalganj presided over the discussion meeting. Earlier Md. Khalilur Rahman, DC, Gopalganj inaugurated the fisheries week by relishing of fish. Among others, Sheikh Lutfor Rahman Bachchu, Upazila Chairman, Gopalganj Sadar, Mohammad Jalal Uddin, UNO, Gopalganj Sadar, Jagodish Biswas a fish cultivator and Babul Krishna Oja, Senior Fisheries Officer, Gopalganj” were spoken on the occasion.
