Prisoner flees from court in Bagerhat

A prisoner named Delwar Hossain Belal alias Munna who was arrested in connection with a dacoity case fled away while he was being escorted to the court of Chief Judiciary Magistrate, Bagerhat from court hajat on Wednesday noon. In this connection 5 police constables on duty were dismissed from their service on temporary basis on the charge of negligence of duty and a 3-men Committee was formed headed by Sadia Afroz, ASP, Headquarters to investigate into the matter and submit the report within 3 days. The dismissed police constables are Sirajul Islam, Abdul Aziz, Shukaranjan Adhikarim, Abdul Majid and Farjana Aktar, it was disclosed to the newsmen by Nizamul Haq Moll, Police Super of Bagerhat. It is stated that prisoner Delwar Hossain Belal alias Munna fled away on his way to the court from jail hajat in order to present him before the Chief Judicial Magistrate in connection with GR-129/14 No. dacoity case. Delwar Hossain Belal is the son of one Abdul Gafur Kazi of village Madhupur under Terokhada Upazila in Khulna district. Police Super of Bagerhat disclosed, Delwar Hossain was arrested with booty by the police of Bagerhat Model PS in connection with committing a dacoity in the house of one Bappi Das of village Kathaltala within Rakhalgachi Union under Bagerhat Sadar Upazila on the night of April 22.
Two youths killed in Jessore

Two youths were killed in separate incidents at Dighri village under Chaugachha upazila and Narikenbaria village under Sharsha upazila in Jessore recently. The dead were identified as Shahidul Islam, 28, son of Abdul Jalil of Dighri village under Chaugachha and Mahidul Islam, 25, son of Abdul Mannan of Shikarpur village under Sharsha upazila. Shahidul was declared dead as he was rushed to Chaugachha upazila health complex in the evening while the body of Mahidul was recovered an abandoned house at Narikenbaria village earlier. Akram Hossain, officer in-charge, Chaugachha police station told that Shahidul was hacked and beaten to death by opponents following feud over a piece of land. M Mohiuddin, officer in-charge, investigation, Sharsha police station told that the body of Mohidul was recovered from an abandoned house where drug addicts used have drugs and cannabis there. He was strangled to death by the addicts. ‘The dead was also an addict’, he added. The bodies were sent to Jessore Medical College Hospital for post mortem examinations. No case was filed and none was arrested.
BCC evicts billboards written in English

Barisal City Corporation (BCC) started drive to evict signboards, billboards, polysigns, banner, festoons written in English or mixed languages on Thursday. Jahangir Molla, sanitary Inspector BCC, said Imtiaj Ahmed Jewel, executive magistrate of BCC led the drives as per direction of higher court to remove signboards written in English or mixed languages. In a two-day drive on July 2014 BCC evicted more than 35 signboards from different areas of the city including Sadar Road and other areas. However total 14 drives were operated from June 2014 to July 3 were operated and 5 cases lodged, Tk 5,500 fines realised from 7 persons in such drives, the BCC official added. During the drives of BCC also cut or damaged those signboards, which they failed to evict or remove, the BCC official acknowledged.
College girl commits suicide in Barisal
A college girl committed suicide due to family feuds on Thursday morning from her residence at Vatikhana Mandir area of the city. The victim was identified as Basanti Rani Roy Bristi,17, HSC student of Barisal Government Women’s College and daughter of Birendra Chandra Roy of the area. Mahbubur Rahman, officer in charge Kawnia police station, said police recovering the hanging dead body from kitchen at the third floor of the house sent to Barisal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital lodging a case of unnatural death and handed over to family members after autopsy. Father of the victim said her wife was a mental patient and always rebuked family members. On Wednesday night she also starting rebuking Bristi and the family members went to sleep at about 3:00 am on Thursday controlling the situation.
Illegal shops in front of Kodomtali evicted

Dakshin Surma Police Station evicted illegal shops in front of the Kodomatali area in the Sylhet city yesterday.Office in charge of Dakshin Surma Police Station Md. Mursalin conducted the drive. Several shops running on the footpaths and roads in front of the Kodomtali were removed yesterday noon. Talking to the reporters, OC Mursalin said, the DSPC conducted the drive and removed the illegal shops.’
