Road mishap kills youth in Jessore

A youth was killed in a road mishap on RM Road is Jessore town on Wednesday morning.The dead was identified as Tayebur Chowdhury, 28, son of Altaf Chowdhury of Kharki in Jessore town. Ibadat Hossain, brother of the dead told that the attending doctor declared his brother dead as the youth was taken to Jessore General Hospital after he met an incident at around 11am on Wednesday. ‘The accident took place as the motorbike was hit by an easy bike,’ he added. Dr Yusuf Ali, medical officer, Jessore General Hospital told that the youth died on way to hospital.
Workshop on agri-extension support activity held
A workshop on agricultural extension support activity was held at BRAC Training Center in Jessore town on Wednesday. Producers must not sell their agricultural products just after using of health hazardous pesticides. They should give logical between using of pesticides on vegetables and cooking of those, the speakers said at the workshop. Funded by USAID, Dhaka Ahsania Mission and care Bangladesh arranged the workshop in association with ACI Limited and Patuakhali University of Science and Technology, was held in the morning. Chaired by Bidyut Kumar Mahalder, chief of party, USAID agricultural extension support activity, the workshop was attended among others by Dr M Ashraf Uddin, assistant director, divisional livestock department, Dr AKM Mostafa Anwar, chairman, micro-biology and public health department, Patuakhali University of Science and Technology, Anwarul Haque, director, care Bangladesh, Tania Sharmin, technical coordinator, Ranjit Debnath, Rashidul Hasan Mridha, Biswas M Saiful, Rita Begum, Yunus Gazi, Moshiar Rahman and Rashida Parvin.
Hindu Kalyan Trust distributs cash, blankets

The Hindu Kalyan Trust arranged a prize, crest, cash, blanket distributing among 115 students and teachers in the district held at local collectorate conference room on Wednesday noon. Deputy Commissioner Md. Azimuddin Biswas attended as chief guest while ADC (Education & ICT) Golam Mohammad Bhuiyan in the chair. It was addressed among others by ADC (General) Tarafder Md. Akther Jamil, Sadar UNO Abdullah Al Mashud, G.P Advocate Bijoy Roy, Kalyan Trusty Adv Dolon Bhowmik, Principal Professor Rabindra Chowdhury, District Press Club President Mostafa Kamal, CAB Secretary Monowar Hossain Rony, Kalyan Trusty Lipu Roy and Awami League leader Pijush Kanti Roy.
Arms, bullets found along C’nawabganj border

Members of Border Guard Battalion (BGB) recovered one pistol, one magazine and two bullets from Wahedpur border point area in Shibganj upazila here early Thursday. Tipped off, a patrol team of BGB conducted a drive in the area at about 4:30 am and recovered one pistol, one magazine and two rounds of bullet in an abandoned condition, said Lt Col SM Abul Ahsan, commander of Chapainawabganj BGB battalion-9. None was arrested in this connection. The recovered firearms were deposited to Shibganj Police Station.
937-kg Jatka seized in Faridpur
FARIDPUR: A mobile court, assisted by Fisheries Department officials and members of law enforcement agency, in a drive seized 937 kilograms of Jatka fish from a local market on Wednesday. The mobile court, led by Executive Magistrate Parvez Mallick, seized the fish from Shariatullah market, one of the biggest fish market of Faridpur town. The small size Hilsa,known as Jatka, were kept hidden in three baskets by fish sellers, reports BSS.
