Election of Sylhet District Lawyers’ Assistant Samity 2017 was held recently in a festivemood. In the election M Jainal Abadin was elected President and M Ikbal Hassain Afaz elected Secretary without competition in the first time of this samity’s history.Other elected persons are Vice president Abdul Mukit, AGS Birendra Chandra Mullik, Organising Secretary M Fakrul Islam, Publicity Secretary Mintu Das (Mithu) Treasurer M Golam Mustafa and member Sabjib Kumar Chandra, Sultan Ahmed Chowdhury, Shah Amadul Haque Rajoun, Seick Hasnuzzaman, Ruman Ahmed, Anamul Haque and Nurul Haque Nahid.

Rally and discussion meeting were held as a part of the programme of “Primary Education Week at Baraigram upazila in Natore on Sunday. The meeting was presided over by UNO Israth Farzana. Former State Minister, Member of Parliament (MP) of Natore- Constituency Prof. Abdul Kuddus was present as a chief guest and Acting Upazila Chairman Prof. Abdul Hakim, Bonpara Pouro Mayor KM Jakir Hossain and Upazila AL-Chairman Abdul Jalil PK were present as a special guests. The programme was addressed among others by Upazila Education Officer Sirazum Munira, former chairman of Machgao Union Parishad Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal. teachers, journalists and local elite were present in the meeting.
2 fishermen arrested from Bay of Bengal along with 12 sharks

Members of the Coast Guard of the Western Zone deployed at Mongla arrested 12 fishermen along with a fishing trawler from the Bay of Bengal, adjacent to the Eastern Division of Sundarban forest while they were fleeing away after catching catch band sharks from there in order to smuggle out them (sharks), according to a delayed report received here. At that time the coastguards recovered 18 big sized sharks weighing 110 mounds from the trawler. After lodging a case with the local PS under the Forest Act the fishermen were sent to the court on Saturday. M. Fariduzzaman, Lt. Commander of the coastguards of the Western Zone disclosed, acting on secret information that an organized gang of fishermen after catching sharks from the Bay of Bengal near at Dublar char of Sundarban forest are waiting in the forest in order to smuggle out them the members of the coastguards raided the river Baleswar under the Eastern Division of Sundarban forest on Friday at night. But being sensing the appearance of the coastguards the fishermen tried to flee away. Then the coastguards chased them and seized the trawler along with its 12 crews and fishermen and recovered 18 sharks from it. Later they were handed over to Bhandaria forest office along with the trawler and caught sharks. All the arrested fishermen and the crews hail from Bhandaria Upazila in Pirojpur district.
Young man electrocuted in Chandpur
CHANDPUR: A young man was electrocuted at Paikdi village in Sadar upazila on Sunday afternoon. The victim was identified as Makbul Hossain Patwary, 25, son of Md Yunus Patwary, a resident of the village. Family members said Makbul was injured when he came in contact with a live wire while plugging his mobile phone for charging it at his house. He was rushed to Chandpur Government General Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
