Oientation on advocacy reporting held in Sylhet

Strategy and rules of the advocacy reporting on Local Government (LG) issues were discussed in Sylhet at the day long orientation titled ” Advocacy Reporting” on Wednesday. 8 journalists of the local newspapers participated from four districts of Sylhet division.To establish transparency and accountabilty of the grass root level institutions, Mass-line Media Centre (MMC), Sylhet has arranged this programme under the project Citizen’s Voice for Improved local Public Services (CVIPS), said a press release. By the direction of Training Associate (TA), Champa Paul speech delevired by the Training Co-ordinator (TC) , Salim Akon ; Regional Manager (RM), Md Mizanur Rahman , Monitoring & Research Officer (MRO), Tazmun Nahar Liza; Office Intern, Susoma Bhattacharjee. Master plan for haor deve workshop held in Kishoreganj

Popi REE-CALL Project and OXFAM International Jointly organised a workshop on master plan for haor development, Haor Region in seven districts including Kishoreganj held at Popi-House conference room recently. ADC (G) Md. Jamil Ahmed attended as Chief Guest while Director of Popi Md Jahangir Alam chaired the meeting. Senior Manager, OXFAM International Tapash Chakraborti and District Livestock Officer Md Ali were attended as special guests. It was also addressed by Saiful Quddess of Popi, Senior Journalist Alam Sarowar Tito, Nikli Upazila Vice-Chairman Jamila Khatun and Bassistant Director, Popi Mizanur Rahman Khan. Spekers informed that the present government has taken a master plan of 15-yr at a cost of Tk28 cr for haor development.
Fire burnt houses in Karapur area of Barisal

A devastating fire caused damages worth Tk. 20 lakhs at Ward No-1 under Raipasha-Karapur union of Barisal city skirt on Sunday noon. A least three hoses including a house of a army personal were damaged by fire.Nurul Amin, chairman of the local union parishad, said the fire instigated from electric short circuit at the Haoladar Bari at about 1:00 PM Sunday noon.The fire rapidly spreading adjacent areas gutted and damaged three houses including the houses of Rashedul Islam Ripon, Bangladesh army soldier in Mymenshing cantonment , his relatives Jalil Khan and Rustam Ali Haoladar. Fire service team from Barisal station rushed to the spot controlled the flame after 2:00 PM and damages yet to be finalised, said Md. Alauddin, senior station officer fire service and civil defense station Barisal.Jalil Khan, one of the affected persons, said house of Rashedul gutted fully and two others severely causing damages worth Tk. 20 lakhs.
Two unnatural deaths in Kurigram

Two persons including a child died in defferent inciedents in Kurigram district on Monday evening.One young man died of snake bite at Rajibpur upazila in Kurigram district at the evening on Monday.The deceased was identified as Ummat Ali son of Abdus Sattar of village Karigorpara under the upazila.Local sources said when Ummat Ali was returning home in te evening at 6.00 suddenly a poisonous snake came out from the adjacent bush and bite him.He also caught the snake causing the snake became furious and bite him several times.
Later the snake was released and Ummat Ali died.In another incident Chadni 4 daughter of Choin Miah of village Dalalipara under Ulipur upazila was playing near a pond. Suddenly she slipt and fell into the pond.Later her relatives after a long time recovered the dead body at noon at 5.30 on Monday.
