The National Primary Education Week” -2017 was observed at Gafargaon under Mymensingh recently. Upazila Administration and Upazila Education Office jointly arranged this week marking a special rally, seminar and discussion meeting. UNO Shiddhartha Shonkor Kundu presided over this function. Upazila Parishad Chairman Md.Asraf Uddin Badal was the Chief Guest in this function. Besides, special guests Porosava Mayor Alhaj S.M.Ikbal Hossain Sumon, AC (Land) Sheikh Shamsul Arefin, Upazila Parishad Vice-chairman Moniruzzaman Moni, Upazila Mohila Vice-chairman Reshma Akter ,Primary Education Officer and distinguished persons were also present in the function.
Poultry birds worth Tk 12 lakh gutted in Jhenaidah

At least two thousand poultry birds and farm for Tk 12 lakh was gutted in the early hours of Saturday. Electricity short circuit might the cause of the fire incident, said the fire fighters of Sailkupa station in Jhenaidah. Abdul Alim, the owner of Roni poultry farm and feed said, in the early hours they realized that the fire was engulfing the fire where at least two thousand birds and huge poultry feeds were stored. He informed the matter to the fire fighters in Sailkupa and they brought the fire under control. Fire service station manager in Sailkupa Mustafizur Rahman said, short circuit might be the reason behind the incident where the fire gutted matured chickens and others for at least 12 lakh Taka.
Osmaninagar, Jagannathpur UZ Parishad polls on March 6

Two Upazila Parishads-Osmaninagar in Sylhet, Jagannathpur in Sunamganj are going to polls on March 6 next in Sylhet Division. The Election Commission on Wednesday announced the election schedule for the three Upazila Parishads to arrange polls along party lines for the first time in the country. According to the election schedule, the deadline for submission of nomination papers is February 9, while the date for scrutiny of nomination papers is February 10 and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is February 17. The election to the chairman post will be held with independent candidates and political parties-fielded candidates, while the two vice chairman posts including one reserved for women will be held in non-partisan manner.
3 dacoits held in Sylhet
Police with the help of locals arrested three alleged dacoits from Manikpur area on the Dakshin Surma Upazila in Sylhet District on Wednesday Morning. The arrested are Abied Miah 23, son of Taher Ali in Fenchugonj Upazila, Foried Miah 32, son of Lulu Miah in Balagonj Upazila and Shipon hajari son of Mubossir Ali in Fenchugonj Upazila. OC of Moglabazar Police Station Kairul Fazal Confirmed the news and said Arrested were sent to Sylhet Central Jail. A case was filed in this connection.
