School student’s body recovered in Savar

A dead body of a class nine student recovered from the Dhwaleshwari River of Savar on Saturday noon.The deceased was identified as Ataur Rahman, 16, son of Abul Hossain of Katlapur area of Savar and a student of class nine of Savar Odhar Chandra School. Deceased’s uncle said, on Friday noon Ataur’s friend Torikul, Razzak, Milon and some others called him by mobile phone for playing football and took him other side of Dhwaleshwari. After evening when he did not come back at home then his family searched him many different places. But he was not found. On Saturday noon some locals saw his floating dead body at the Dhwaleshwari. On information deceased family reached the spot and identified deceased Ataur. Ashraful Azim Additional police super said, dead body was sent for autopsy and necessary all step wil be taken very soon for arresting the killers.
Tk 208.15cr budget approved for RU

The authority of Rajshahi University (RU) has approved a budget of tk. 208.15crore for the 2014-15 finance year.A syndicate meeting presided over by the university vice-chancellor Prof Muhammad Mizanuddin approved its annual budget, said Prof Sayen Uddin, treasurer of RU.The University Grants Commission (UCG) will fund tk. 190cr while the university will provide tk.18.15cr from its own sources, he also said. The budget deficit is tk.39crore. The lion’s share of the budget tk.147.65cr will be spent for the salaries of the teachers and officials but tk.14cr only has been allocated for education and research.
Increase of seats at Gournadi College demanded

Admission seekers blocked Barisal-Dhaka highway demanding increase of HSC level seats at Government Gournadi College on Saturday.Report received from Gournadi said agitated admission seeking students at about 1:00 PM blocked the Barisal-Dhaka highway crossed in front of Government Gournadi College by burning tires and holding rally.The agitated students said each of Humanities and Business Education sections has 300 seats while Science section has 150 seats for admission in HSC level at the Government Gournadi College.
However 1,311 applicants filed applications against total 600 seats of Humanities and Business Education sections, while only 37 applied against 150 seats of Science sections, the students told. In this situation the authority should increase the seats of Humanities and Business Education sections and adjust the unused seats of Science section, the admission seekers demanded. Masud Hasan Patwari, Gournadi upazila nirbahi officer, rushed to the spot after hearing the reports of blocking the highway by the admission seekers, and assured them to consider their legitimate demands.
College girl abducted in Barisal city
Ismat Jahan Swapna, a master’s final year examinee of Accounting department of Government Brojo Mohun College, abducted on Saturday noon after went out from examination center at Government Barisal College in the city. Police and family sources said a group of youth riding on a white coloured private car abducted Swapna under arms at about 2:10 PM Saturday from Kalibari-Mor near Barisal College after she went out the center attending examination. The victim was daughter of Saiful Islam Shikdar of Raghunathpur under Kaukhali upazila of Pirojpur and alleged abductor was her divorced husband Asaduzzaman Prince of Pirojpur Sadar.
Shahjahan Khan, maternal uncle of the victim, lodging a case with Barisal Kotwali police station in this connection alleged that a group of abductors led by Asadul Islam Primce, divorced husband of Swapna, suddenly attacking her forcibly brought in the car and fled away when he was busy in renting a rickshaw to brought Swapana to his house at BIP colony area of the city.
Asadul Islam Prince was a BCL cadre of Pirojpur Government Shohrawardy College and son of Asaduzzaman Manik of Palpara Pirojpur town.
