Fish cultivator electrocuted in Kachua

Sobhan Molla (47), a fish cultivator of village Bilkul under Kachua Upazila in Bagerhat district and son of one late Jobbar Molla of the same village met his tragic end when he was electrocuted in his own fish farm on Sunday in the afternoon. Locals said that the ill-fated fish cultivator used to connect the fish farm with electricity at night in order to protect the farm from the hands of rats and in the morning he used to disconnect the electricity. But it is the irony of fate that on the day of occurrence the man forgot to disconnect the electricity and as soon as he entered the fish farm he, somehow, touched the live wire of the electricity. As a result, the man was electrocuted. He was rushed to a local clinic where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
Pitha Utsab ends in Narail
NARAIL: A two-day “Cake Festival-2017”, popularly known as “Pitha Utsab,” a traditional fair in winter season was concluded on Amada Adarsha College premises under Lohagora upazila of the district last night. Amada Adarsha College organised the festival to keep alive the tradition of hand making rice cakes in the country. Narail Zilla Parishad Chairman Advocate Shorab Hossain Biswas was present the concluding ceremony as the chief guest. Additional deputy commissioner (ADC) M Siddiqur Rahman, Lohagara upazila Parishad Chairman Syed Faizul Amir Litu, istrict and session judge court public prosecutor (PP) Advocate Emdadul Islam, Lohagara Municipality Chairman Ashraful Islam, Formar UP Chairman Advocate Kazi Bashirul Islam, Narail Press Club vice president Sultan Mahmood were present at the function. A total of 15 stalls with 63 varieties of traditional winter pithas including bhapa, chitai, pakan, pati shapta, dudh chitai, dhupi, kakatuli, labongo latika,nakshi, tilpitha, love pitha, bibikhana pitha, rangorosh, shamuk pitha, rosh bokul, khirkuli, narkel nadu and tiler pitha were set up at the fair, reports BSS.

SATKHIRA: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in a drive arrested a man along with three firearms and three bullets from Chunar Bridge area in Shyamnagar upazila on Wednesday. The arrestee was identified as Mohsin Ali, son of Shawkat Ali of Kaliganj upazila. Tipped off, a team of Rab-6 led by its deputy director Maniruzzaman conducted a drive in the area and arrested Mohsin and recovered three pipe guns and three bullets from his possession. Later, he was handed over to Shyamnagar Police station., reports UNB.
Housewife ‘commits suicide’ in Jessore
BENAPOLE: A housewife allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself over extramarital affair at Prembag village in Abhaynagar upazila of Jessore district early Monday. The deceased was identified as Mitul Begum, 36, wife of Jahangir Beg of the village. Mitul’s husband Jahangir said he had an altercation with Mitul as she involved in an extramarital relation with one of his relatives. Mitul hanged herself with the ceiling of her room early in the morning, said Jahangir, reports UNB.
