A-3- day long annual sports competition was inaugurated at St. Josephs’ School & College in Baraigram upazila in Natore on Monday. The function was presided over by the Chairman of the governing body of the institute Father Hurbut Riberu. Natore DC Shahina Thatun was present as a Chief Guest and inaugurator. Baraigram Upazila Nirbahi Officer Israth Farzana and Bonpara Pouro Mayor K.M Jakir Hossain were present as special guest in the function. It was also addressed among others on importance of the co-curricular activities such as dance, singing, drama, sports etc. by the Principal of the institute Father Lazarus Rozario, Upazila Secondory Education Officer Md Anwarul Islam Chowdhury and Lacturer Benedict Gomej. This function was conducted by Lecturer Md Ekram Hossain and Mrs. Suchitra Costa. At the end of the function, the chief guest Shahina Thatun inaugurated the annual sports competition flying away balloons and pigeons.
Probe bodies formed over landslide

Two probe committees have been formed to investigate a landslide that killed two workers in Companiganj upazila of Sylhet.The committee formed by district and police administrations, has been asked to submit the report in two working days.Sylhet’s Additional District Magistrate Abu Saffat Md Sayedul Islam and Assistant Superintendent of Police Hasnat Ahmed are leading the probe committees respectively.On the other hand, the other committee got five working days to submit its report. On Monady, two people were killed and several others injured in a landslide during an illegal hill cutting in the upazila.
RUJA gets new executive body

Hasan Adib of Daily Jugantor and Mustafiz Rony of Daily Samakal have been made as president and general secretary of Rajshahi University Journalist Association respectively for the year of 2017-18.
Addressing the annual general meeting of RUJA held its office on Sunday night, its outgoing adviser MA Sayeed Shuvo declared the committee while RU mass communication and journalism department lecturer Mamun Abdul Kaiyum, among others was present. The other office bearers are—vice presidents Mostafiz Mishu of Alokito Bangladesh and Abu Jafor of Radio Padma, joint-secretary Mehedi Hasan of Daily Ittefaq and risingbd.com, organizing secretary Rabiul Islam Robi of Daily New Nation, treasurer Rashed Rintu of jagonews24.com, office secretary Sayed Hasan Raj of SBC71.com, publicity and publication affairs secretary Sirajus Salekin, cultural secretary Jahirul Islam Jahid of Daily Manabzamin, information and technology affairs secretary Talha Tarek of Daily Amader Somoy, sports affairs secretary Ariful Islam of prio.com, programme and planning affairs secretary Shishir Mahmud Raj.
