One arrested with yaba in South Surma

A special team of RAB-9 arrested one person with 390 piece yaba. The operation lead by major M Shawkatul Munagum in pirojpur area of South Surma. His name is jomshed Mia (40) Son late Sizil Mia, kanigawn village under Maulibibazar District. He live in kadamtoli bus stand for long time. RAB said he sell narcotizes and liquor in Sylhet for a long time. He was hand over ot south surma Police station with seized yaba.  
9 injured in Companigonj land dispute
Some 9 persons among them 6 women were beaten mercilessly in a house in Tukergawn village under Companigonj Upazila following a land dispute recently .
 4 persons were sent to Osmani Medical College Hospital and others are admitted to Companigonj Upazila Health Complex. Police reached to the spot but the terrorist are still residing in the disputed land. So people are not exit their home. Local source informed 50 Shatak of khas land near Shahid Srity school and collage exist. For this land a long time dispute prevail between late Abul Hussain and his family and former Upazila Vice chairman M Yakub Ali and his brother Ikbal Hussain. On Wednesday.
Madhu Mela begins at Sagardari today

A weeklong Madhu Mela, marking the 193rd birth anniversary of celebrated Bengali poet Michael Madhusudan Dutta, will begin at Michael Madhusudan Academy at Sagardari in Keshabpur upazila on Saturday.
State Minister of Public Administration Ismat Ara Sadique is expected to inaugurate the fair, to be arranged by the Cultural Affairs Ministry and the district administration of Jessore, on the bank of the Kobadak River at 3pm on the day. On the occasion, discussions will be held every day where eminent litterateurs, poets, educationists, writers, lyrics and dramatists will participate. The discussion meetings on the life, works and teachings of the great poet will be followed by sessions of recitation, cultural functions, dances and dramas. Reputed singers and vocalists from Dhaka and other parts of the country will participate in the programmes. The weeklong Madhu Mela will also include jatra, circus, puppet show, doll-dance and Kabi gaan.
400 latrines distributed in Jamalpur
JAMALPUR: Local Government Division distributed 400 latrines among poor families at free of cost in Bakshiganj upazila in the district on Thursday. Upazila Nirbahi Officer, M Abu Hassan Siddik handed over the latrines in Modakpara area in the upazila yesterday. The latrines were distributed under the project of Local Government Support Programme (LGSP) in the fiscal 2015-2016. Chairman, Bakshiganj Sadar Union Parishad, Fakruzzaman Motin among others were present at that time, reports BSS.
17 shops gutted by fire in Barguna
BARGUNA: 17 shops were gutted by fire at Kholpotua Bazar in Bamna Upazila of the district early yesterday. Shop owners estimated the damage caused by the fire at around Taka 1.50 crore. Officer of Mothbaria Firefighters Abdul Haque said the fire originated from an electric short circuit inside the market. Showkat Hasanur Rahman Rimon MP distributed Taka 5000 to each owner of the gutted shops, reports BSS.
Digital Fair in Khulna on Jan 26
KHULNA: A three-day long ‘Digital Innovation Fair-2017’ will begin here from January 26. District administration is organising the fair under Access to Information (A2i) programme of Prime Minister’s Office,official sources said. The objective of the fair is to popularise the ICT related activities among the people from all walks of life to help materialise the dream of building digital Bangladesh, as per vision 2021 declared by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. A preparatory meeting to make the fair a success was held at the conference room of deputy commissioner(DC) here on Thursday with DC Nazmul Ahan in the chair, reports BSS.
