Youth dies in snake bite

A youth died in snake bite at village Atlia under Sadar upazila on Thursday morning. The deceased was identified as Hafizur Rahman, 25 son of Monto Hossain of Atlia village of the district. Family sources said, after watching World Cup football he went to bed and slept. On Thursday at around 4-00 am a poisonous snake bite him and died during treatment at Kotchandpur local health complex.
One held with Indian medicine at Benapole

A Bangladeshi passport holder was arrested by the Benapole Customs while he was entering into Bangladesh through Benapole check post on Wednesday morning. The arrestee is Arifur Rahman, son of Shamsul Haque of Bijoykara under Chaddagram upazila, Comilla. Hasanuzzman, superintendent, Benapole customs told newsmen that the passport holder was detained after Illegal Indian medicines were recovered from his possessions while checking. The arrestee claimed that he went to India for treatment and came back to Bangladesh with some medicine that is not available. He was handed over to Benapole port police after filing a case.
One held with 1200 bottles phensidyl

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Rajshahi- 5 unit raided and recovered 1200 bottles of phensidyl from a house of Abdul Halim of Baraigram Uttorpara under Natore district on last Wednesday. Company Commander of RAB Rajshahi- 5 unit Major Kamruzzaman Pavel told to The New Nation that on a secret information, they recovered four sacks of phensidyl from a store room and other two sacks of phensidyl from sealing of a bed room of Abdul Halim and arrested a person named Selim Hossain (32). Selim is a son of Abdul Halim of the village Baraigram Uttorpara. Neighbors of Abdul Halim, Zahidul Islam and Shahidul Islam said that Abdul Halim is a farmer and his oldest son Selim is a labour.
Ganajagaran Mancha stages demo in Sylhet

Sylhet Ganajagaran Mancha staged a demonstration for 3-hour at Chouhatta Projonmo Chattar in the city yesterday protesting the delaying verdict of war criminal Matiur Rahman Nizami. In the demonstration they also demanded the capital punishment for all war criminals during the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971. The Mancha activists Abid Faysal, Rakesh Ray, Rajib Rasel, Ashraful Kobir, Saptarshi Das, Dwoha Chowdhury, Suhag Jadu spoke at the programme, among others.
