Newly- joined Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) Commissioner Gulam Kibria has sought everyone’s co-operation to maintain law and order situation in Sylhet. We will try to solve visible problem. He met the media persons at the conference room of SMP and he made this comment. He joined as new commissioner Sylhet Metropolitan Police on 29th December. The meeting was attended by journalists and senior Police Officer.
Shiper service in Osmani Airport inaugurated
Finance Minister AMA Muhit inaugurated Shiper Service in Sylhet MAG Osmani International Airport on Wednesday.
He said it is a good initiative. The people who live in abroad will be benefitted by this. He advised them to give correct service to the passengers. The finance Minister was garlanded by khondhokar Shipar Ahmed CEO and owner Shiper Air Service. CEO Shiper Ahmed informed in Sylhet Airport such type of service is news in Sylhet though it is exist in Dhaka and other places. In Sylhet it is introduced with the approval of civil Aviation Authority. By this passenger receive better service. So their suffering reduce by this they can easily enter and exit airport and receive check-in service. Their luggage will be safely reach to the plane.

A team of Rapid Action Battalion Unit-8 in drives in different areas on Wednesday night arrested one arms trader and recovered huge arms- ammunitions. Lt.Col. Anowar Uz Zaman commanding officer, holding a press briefing at RAB-8 headquarter in Rupatali area of Barisal city on Thursday noon disclosed the facts in presence of the arrestee on Thursday. In briefing CO of RAB-8 said they operating drives at Gournadi bus stand area on Barisal-Dhaka highway on Wednesday late night to Thursday early hours arrested arms trader Alamgir Hossain Haoladar. Alamgir was son of Fazlul Haque Haoladar from Kandapasha village under Gournadi Upazila of the district. According to the facts revealed after interrogating the arrestee, RAB operating drives in different areas recovered three 7.65mm pistol, one shooter gun, one rifle, and twenty rounds ammunitions. Alamgir was engaged arms trading and took part in different criminal activities by renting arms ammunitions to the criminals, said RAB-8 commander After completing interrogations, the arrestee would be handed over to concerned police stations for legal action and law enforcers continuing drives to arrest his cohorts, he added.
Mobile court fines two business establishments in Faridpur
FARIDPUR: A mobile court on Thursday realized Taka 2, 50,000 as fine from two business establishments for various offences at Kanaipur in the suburb of the town. The factories are KBS Brand Limited, an insecticide factory and Bismillah Food Factory Limited, a chips factory. Executive Magistrates Parvez Mallick and Matiur Rahman led the mobile court and conducted the drives. They fined KBS Brand Limited Taka 2 lakh for changing expiration dates and Bismillah Food Factory Limited for using substandard raw materials, reports BSS.
5 Jamaat men held in Gaibandha
GAIBANDHA: Police in their drives arrested five leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami from different parts of Sundarganj upazila early Friday. Atiar Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sundarganj Police Station, said a police team conducted the drives overnight and arrested the five unidentified Jamaat men from their homes. They were wanted in a case filed under the Explosive Substance Act, the OC said, reports UNB.
Fugitive convict held in Magura
MAGURA: Police arrested a fugitive convict from Joka village in Shibpur upazila on Thursday. The arrestee was identified as Ayub Hossain, 62, a convicted accused in a rape case of Nijnanduali village in Sadar upazila. Tipped off, a team of police arrested Ayub from the village in the afternoon. Sudarshan Kumar Roy, additional superintendent of Magura police, a court sentenced Ayub to life term imprisonment for violating a physically challenged young girl on November 28, 2006 and he remained fugitive since then, reports UNB.
