Arms, ammo recovered in Chapainawabganj

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered a pistol, two magazines and five bullets from Masudpur frontier under Shibganj upazila in Chapainawabganj on Wednesday afternoon. BGB said acting on secret information, a patrol team of BGB from Masudpur Border Out Post raided the aforesaid frontier on Wednesday at around 1-30 pm and chased one person who was coming from the Indian side with a bag of grass on his head. Seeing BGB members the person fled away leaving the bag. After searching the bag BGB found the arms and ammunition. Later the recovered arms and ammunition were deposited with Shibganj thana.
One killed, another injured in road mishap
One person was killed and another was injured as a tractor hit a motor cycle on the Sheikh Hasina Bridge under Chapainawabganj sadar upazila on Wednesday night. The deceased is Alkes Ali, 55, son of Gudor Ali of Gothapara village under Charbagdanga union of Chapainawabganj sadar upazila and the injured is Ramjan Ali, 28, son of Samjad Ali of the same area.Police and local sources said, the aforesaid persons were going to Chapainawabganj by a motorcycle and as their motor cycle was hit by a tractor coming from the opposite direction on the bridge at around 7-45 pm, they were injured seriously. They were rushed to the Chapainawabganj sadar hospital but the doctor on duty declared Alkes dead.
Thunderbolt kills one in Haripur
THAKURGAON: person was killed in a thunderbolt at Vutdangi village under Haripur upazila of the district on Tuesday afternoon. Local sources said the deceased was identified as Sairul Islam, 38, son of late Saber Ali of the same village. Sariul Islam met his tragic end as the thunderbolt struck him while working on his farm land. He died on the spot, reports BSS.
Boy injured after falling from tree dies at JMCH
BENAPOLE: A madrasa student, who was injured after falling from a tree on Sunday, died at Jessore Medical College Hospital (JMCH) on Monday night. The deceased was identified as Rubayet Hossain, 9, son of Sohel Sheikh of Bhoberber village in Benapole area.Family members said Rubayet climbed a carambola tree in the village at about 12.30pm on Sunday. At one stage, he fell to the ground and sustained serious injuries. The boy was rushed to JMCH where he succumbed to his injuries around 9.00pm on Monday, reports UNB.
ICT knowledge in reaching services to people stressed
RANGPUR : Speakers here stressed on acquiring more expertise and knowledge on information and communication technology (ICT) in reaching services to the people’s doorsteps. The opinion came the day-long district level ‘Innovation Circle and Social Media Dialogue’ held at conference room of the Deputy Commissioner of Nilphamari on Monday. The Nilphamari district administration arranged the event under cooperation of the Access to Information (a2i) Progr mme of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).Deputy Commissioner of Nilphamari Md Zakir Hossain attended as the chief guest with Additional District Magistrate (ADM) and Head of the District ICT Division Anwar Imam in the chair. Additional Deputy Commissioners of Nilphamari, Upazila Nirbahi Officers and Upazila Chairmen of six upazilas, heads of different government departments and entrepreneurs of union digital centres, civil society members and local journalists were present, reporets BSS.
