15 BCL activists hurt in intra party conflict at Jhenaidah

Atleast 15 activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League sustained injuries in an intra party clash at Jhenaidfah veterinaryu college campus on mid night of Thursday. The injured were rushed to Jhenaidah General Hospital. In the other hand the BCL district unit president denied of any clash among the BCL men saying no BCL men were involved in the clash. Eye witnesses and policed said, the activists of the BCM engaged in clash after an altercation among the student leaders of the CBL in the college following the residential accommodation of the learners rushed for the admission in the college in the Mid night of Thursday. Abdus Samad, Shubho, Sukanta, Nityananda, Sohag Talukder, Selim Hossain, Anik, Sujoy, Samadul and six others sustained injuries then. OC Harendra Nath Sarker said, the police and locals rescued them and sent to Jhenaidah general hospital where they were under going treatment. Bangladesh Chhatra League Jhenaidah district unit president Saqil Ahmed said, it was the matter of the students of the college where no BCL men was involved in the clash.
TLCC meet of Faridpur Pourasabha held
FARIDPUR: The 34th meeting of Town Level Coordination Committee (TLCC) of Faridpur Pourasabha (Oct-Dec) period was held at the hall room of Pourasabha here on Thursday. Mayor of Faridpur Pourasabha Shaikh Mahatab Ali Methu was presided over the meeting. TLCC members, officials and Councilors of the pourasabha were present in the meeting. The meeting reviewed the progress of various development works taken up by the organization. It may be mentioned that Faridpur Pourasabha in this fiscal has implemented a number of infrastructural schemes at a cost of Taka 50 crore and implemented numerous service oriented improvements to ease the life of the citizens. Pourasabha Secretary Md. Tanzilur Rahman presented the project documents on the multimedia and its progress. In the meeting the quarterly progress of Gender Action Plan (GAP) at an estimated expenditure of Taka 12,04820.00.
Gold haul at Sylhet Osmani Int’l Airport

A big haul of 16 gold bars from Dubai BG-052 Flight at 10-30 a.m. recently at Sylhet M.A.G Osmani International Airport . It has been learnt that acting on a secret information that a big haul of gold being smuggled into the aforesaid airport, at the said flight, customs official raided the Biman and seized 16 bars of gold worth Tk. over one crore. The bars were wrapped in a poly bag. But none was arrested in this connection. It can be mentioned here that gold 9 kg 300 grams worth Tk. Four Crore have been recovered on November 16th, at the same airport, but no one was arrested in that connection.
10 printing presses gutted in Sylhet
Fire gutted ten printing presses that broke out at Muktijoddha lane in Zindabazar area of the Sylhet City recently. The fire originated from an electrical short circuit around 8 am. It soon engulfed the adjoining nine shops. On information, a firefighting unit rushed in and doused the flame after one and half an hours of efforts. The losses caused by the fire around Tk 1 Cro. Rafiqul Islam, Deputy Director of Sylhet Fire Service & Civil Defense confirmed the matter and said, The fire originated from an electrical short circuit around 8 am. It soon engulfed the adjoining nine shops. A firefighting unit rushed in and doused the flame after one and half an hours of efforts. The losses caused by the fire around Tk 1 Cro.
