An old aged passer-by was killed when he was run over by Nasiman, a speeding mechanized 3 wheeled vehicle on Signboard-Morrelganj Road at Dattabarir Crossing under Kachua Upazila in Bagerhat district on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Yusuf Fakir (72), son of late Asar Ali Fakir of village Bichat under Kachua Upazila. On the day when the ill-fated old man came out from his house and went to the road the speeding killer Nasiman laden with log wood dashed him form his behind violently and fled away. As a result, the old man was fatally injured. At first he was given first aid in a clinic at Signboard Bazar and later he succumbed to his injuries on the way to Bagerhat Sadar Upazila for betterment treatment.

Aklima Bibi Girls Empowerment Football Tournament was held in Muhammedpur Govt Primary School in Dewan Bazar Union under BalaganJ upazila on Sunday afternoon. At the final match they defeated Ahmedpur Primary School by 3-2 goal. 16 schools took part in the tournament. On the occasion a prize giving ceremony was held at Muhammedpur Govt Primary School Playground. President of SMC Amin Miah presided the ceremony. Human Right lawyer in UK Aklima Bibi attended the programme as Chief guest.
