Arms, ammo recovered in C’nawabganj

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered a pistol, two revolvers, two magazines and nine rounds of bullet from Barorashia village under Durlavpur union of Shibganj upazila in Chapainawabganj district on Saturday morning. BGB said, on secret information, a patrol team of BGB from Monakasha Border out post made a temporary check post in the aforesaid area at around 7 am. Seeing BGB members, a passenger of an auto-rickshaw fled away leaving a bag. After searching the bag BGB members found the arms and ammunition, the sources added.
BCL cadre sent to jail

One BCL cadre sent to jail on Friday and three others released after sharp weapons recovered from B M College Hostel on Thursday night. Sub Inspector Azharuddin of Barisal Kotwali police station, said police after receiving information about tensed situation at Ashwini Kumar Hall of Barisal Brojo Mohun College rushed there. Then searching rooms recovered some sharp weapons from the room of Rafikul Islam Rubel. Police detained Rafikul Islam Rubel, Kamol Haldar, Sanjoy Das and Munna, four BCL activists from there. On Friday after interrogation last three were released. Only Rafikul Islam Rubel, a masters student of the college, sent to jail after produced before the court as a wanted accused of a case lodged previously, police sources said.

College student electrocuted in Meherpur
MEHERPUR : A college student died from electrocution at Purbomaldahoh village in Gangni upazila on Friday night. The deceased was identified as Al Kabir, son of Abdul Latif, a resident of the village and a honours student of the Bangla Department in Meherpur Government College. Quoting Locals, Badrul Alam, local ward councillor, said Kabir came in contact with a live electric wire while plugging a electric connection for paddy thrashing at his house around 8am. Later he was taken to Gangni Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared him dead, reports UNB.
