4 inter-district dacoit gang arrested in Barisal

Barisal Metropolitan police operating drives in different areas arrested and recovered sharp weapons, tools used for dacoity, arrested four members of an inter-district dacoit gang and some looted items from them on Saturday. The arrested dacoits were identified as Obaidur Rahman Faruk alias Army-Faruk, 38, a forced retired army person of Ranipur of Betagi upazila under Barguna distinct and the gang leader, Alam Rari, 31, Miraz Haoladar, 31, of Bamrail of Wazirpur upazila , Mojammel Hossain Monir , 28, of Char Kaua under Sadar upazila of Barisal district. The arrestees have confessed before the journalists about committing the crimes said there were more two members in their gang. The drives were operated after the dacoit gang looted properties worth Tk 8 lakhs in cash and kinds from the house of a Lance Corporal in Tajkathi area of Barisal city on May 28 night. Fouzia Begum, mother of that army person, lodged a case in that connection with this police station on May 29, the police sources said.
Shrimp pollen worth Tk 4 lakhs recovered in Barisal
Police operating a drive recovered 3 lakhs shrimp pollen worth Tk 4 lakhs from a trawler Barisal steamer ghat area on early Saturday. Then a mobile formed by Khalid Mahmud Jaki, administrative magistrate fined 11 detained shrimp pollen traders per head Tk 2,000 and released the recovered shrimp pollen to Kirtan Khola River.The fined fishermen were Khokan, Khokan(2), Nur Nabi, Idris, Mohsin, Ruhul Amin, Nurul Islam, Bachchu, Ibrahim, Abul Khair and Nuruddin, police sources said.
Discussion on 33rd death anniv of Zia held

Speakers also added in their speech that a group of miscreants killed Ziaur Rahman for their own interest. Because Ziaur Rahman was valiant freedom fighter and fought against Pakistan’s Army as Sector commander of freedom fighter’s during liberation in 1971.
Arms trader held in Jhenidah

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-6) of Jhenidah have arrested a arms trader with a 9mm pistol and 6 round bullets from Collegepara area of Kaligonj upazila town in Jhenidah on Thursday night. The arrestee is Animash Biawas, 30 son of Arobindu Biswas of Bamonail village under the upazila. He is a quack of rural areas but he run arms trade secretly
Camp commander squadron leader Niaz Mohammad Faysal of Jhenidah said, on a tip off, on Thursday night at around 8:30 pm a team of RAB-6 launched a drive at Collegepara area of Kaligonj upazila town and arrested Onimash with a 9mm pistol and 6 round bullets from his possession. He has been running this illegal trade for long, the commander added.
Robbers loot valuables injuring 5 in Savar
SAVAR: Robbers injured five members of a family and looted gold ornaments, cash and other valuables worth Tk 1 crore from a businessman’s house in Ashulia upazila early Saturday. Locals said a gang of masked robbers, 15-20 in number, stormed the house of businessman Haji Muladi Mandal in Mirer Changaon area of the upazila early in the morning by breaking open the main gate and held the house inmates hostage at gunpoint. They looted over 100 talas of gold ornaments, US dollars worth Tk 3 lakh, Tk 13 lakh in cash and other valuables, including a shotgun, from the house, reports UNB
The handlooms also beat up the house inmates when they tried to resist, leaving five people injured.
On information, police visited the spot.
