2 RUET Shibirmen sent to jail

A Rajshahi court on Thursday sent two students of Rajshahi University of Engineering Technology to jail for their alleged involvement with Islami Chhatra Shibir politics.The court passed the order after Police produced Nasri Uddin, final year student of RUET electrical and electric engineering department and also Chhatra Shibir RUET unit president, and Towhidur Rahman Rafi, second year student of RUET electronics and telecommunication engineering department, before the court showing arrest in sabotage cases. Humayun Kabir, officer-in-charge of Motihar Police Station, said they at first arrested Rafi from the RUET campus, and based on information given by Rafi they conducted raid in a mess at Baliyapukur in the city and arrested Nasir.
2 robbers held with arms, ammo at Bahubal
HABIGANJ: Detective branch (DB) of police, in a special drive, arrested two alleged robbers along with arms, ammo while taking preparation for committing robbery at Mohasoy Bazaar rail crossing area under Bahubal upazila of the district on Thursday night. The arrested were identified as robber gang leader Jamal Mia, 30, son of Abdur Rahman, a native of Nuagaon village in Bahubal upazila and Moshahid Mia, 27, son of Charak Ali of same village. Police said acting on secret information, a team of DB police of Habiganj conducted the drive at Mohasoy Bazaar rail crossing area at around 2.15 am last night and arrested the robbers while they were taking preparation to commit robbery on the rail crossing area. The others cohorts of the gang managed to flee the scene, reports BSS.
15 gamblers held in Dinajpur
DINAJPUR: Detective branch (DB) of police, in a special drive, arrested 15 gamblers from Current Haat area under Chirirbandar upazila of the district on Thursday. Being informed by locals, a team of DB police of Chirirbandar thana raided the Current Haat area and arrested them. The arrested were identified as Momotaz Ali, Kamruzzaman, Mojibur Rahman, Asim Kumar Das, Abdus Samad, Jamir uddin Babu, Abdul Mojid, Noor Islam, Shakib, Luftur Rahman, Abdul Mannan, Shahidul Haq, Den Razu, Shawley Chandra Nath Roy and Babul Chandra Roy, reports BSS.
Road crash kills student in Jessore
JESSORE: A school boy was killed in a road accident in Fashtola crossing area on the Chaugacha-Maheshpur road under Chaugacha upazila of the district yesterday. The deceased was identified as Dipankar Kumar, 8, a student of class two of Guatali Government Primary School and son of Ashok Kumar of Guatali village. Officer-in-Charge of Chaugacha Thana M Mashiur Rahman said the accident occurred when a human hauler hit Dipankar in the area this noon while he was returning home from school. Critically injured Dipankar was rushed to the upazila health complex where on duty doctor declared him dead. A case was filed with in this connection.
JSC examinee killed in Netrakona road accident
NETRAKONA: A JSC examinee was killed in a road accident at Kila under Sadar upazila of the district yesterrday morning. The examinee was identified as Suma Akter, 14, daughter of Abdur Rashid of village Dakkhin Bishiura under the upazila. She was a student of Dakkhin Bishiura High School. Police and hospital sources said the accident took place when Suma along with her uncle was going to Challisha Muktal Hussain Girls High School examination center to appear the JSC examination on a motorcycle. The motorcycle collided head on with a shallow-engine driven trolley killing the examinee on the spot. Being informed, police rushed to the spot and recovered body and sent it to Netrakona Sadar Hospital morgue for postmortem, the sources said. The police team seized the trolley, but its driver managed to flee the scene, the sources added, reports BSS.
