Female student commits suicide

A schoolgirl allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself with the ceiling fan of her room at Uttar Bazar in Golapganj upazila of Sylhet on Tuesday. The victim was identified as Sweaty Das, 16, class VI student of Baraya High School in the upazila. Locals said Sweaty’s mother found the door of her room locked from inside in the afternoon. As she did not get any response from Sweaty, she called her neighbours and informed police. Later, police entered the room by breaking the door-lock and found Sweaty lifeless. AKM Fazlul Haque Shibli, officer-in-charge of Golapganj Model Police Station, confirmed the matter.
4 JMB members arrested in Bagerhat

4 JMB activists were arrested from an orchard of one Shafayat Shaikh belonging to village Khalisakhali in Mghia Union on Wednesday. they were conspiring to commit terror-activities along with a revolver, ammunitions and 5 hand bombs. The arrested persons are Akash alias Babu (19), son of one Bedaruddin Molla of Kakaebil under Kachua Upazila in Bagerhat district, Kabirul alias Kabirul Mohori (26), son of one Lokman Faraji of village Raghunathpur under Najirpur Upazila in Pirojpur, Md. Habibullah (19), son of one Abdul Hye Shaikh of village Masimpur in the same district and Mizanur Rahman (28), son of one Shahjahan Hawldar of Uttar Sonakhali village under Mathbaria Upazila in the same district.

MANIKGANJ: A view exchange meeting of teachers, students, guardians and locals was held at Manikganj Collectorate Public School on Wednesday. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Gen.) Monjur Mohammad Shahriar was present in the function as chief guest. Headmaster of the school Md. Abdul Monnaf Khan presided over the meeting. Former councilors of Manikganj Pourasabha Advocate Bazlur Rahman, Morsheda Hossain Mitu, general secretary of Association for Rural Advancement in Bangladesh (ARAB) ASM Nurul Alam, senior teacher of Kusherchar Ismail Hossain High School Md. 39 female organisations get govt grants
GAIBANDHA: Some 39 voluntary female organizations of the district got financial grants of Tk 7.45 lakh for the fiscal 2015-16 from Bangladesh Mohila Kalyan Parishad under the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs on Wednesday. A simple function organized by the district administration and department of women affairs was held in the conference room of Collectorate Building here in the afternoon. Deputy Commissioner (DC) M. Abdus Samad addressed the function as chief guest while District Women Affairs Officer Habiba Khatun presided over the ceremony. Speaking at the function, DC M. Abdus Samad said the government is encouraging the female voluntary organizations through providing them with financial support so that they can contribute more to society, reports BSS.
One held with fake Indian rupees

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested a young man with seven lakh fake Indian rupees from Lahapur area in Shibganj upazila on Wednesday. The arrestee was identified was Suman Ali, 28, son of Hazrat Ali, a resident of Kolabari area in the upazila. Tipped off, a team of the elite force conducted a drive in the area and arrested Suman in the afternoon, said a press release. The Rab members also recovered seven lakh fake Indian rupees after searching his body.
