World No Tobacco Day observed in Pirganj

The World No Tobacco Day- 2014 was observed in Pirganj Upazila of Thakurgaon with a call to stop the use of tobacco by raising tax on tobacco products recently. The theme of this year is raise tobacco tax, lower death and disease. Association for Community Development (ACD) , an NGO arranged a colourful rally and discussion meeting. A discussion was meeting on raise tobacco tax, lower death and disease held at local Purba Chowrasta on Saturday. Advocate Abu Sayem Coalition member of ACD presided over the meeting. Abdul Khaleque, Panel Mayor of Pirganj municipality attended as chief guest. It was addressed among others by, New Nation district correspondent Md. Mokaddes Hayat Milon and Hosne ara Parvin Farzana Advocacy officer of ACD.
Dacoity in female cop’s house in Jhenidah

A group of 5/6 dacoits wearing musk entered into the house of a female police constable by cutting grill and looted five tolas gold and cash Tk 28,000 early hours of Tuesday. The female constable is Roma Roy who is serving at SP office in Jhenidah. Roma Roy said, on Tuesday early hours at around 3-30 am a group of 5/6 dacoits wearing musk entered in to the house of a female police constable by cutting grill of her kitchen and looted five tolas gold and cash Tk 28,000. They also damaged the furniture of the house. They raised hue and cry. As soon as the neighbours rushed the spot they left the scene. Officer in charge (OC) Shahbuddin Azad confirmed the matter. They are investigating the matter.
