Brilliant students to build prosperous nation: State Minister

State Minister for Water Resources Lt colonel(Retd) Nazrul Islam Hiro (Birpratik) MP said brilliant students will build a prideful and prosperous nation through building a Sonar bangle as dreamt by father of nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rsahman. The Minister was addressing a ceremony of accorded reception and distributed education stipend to 1022 students who secured GPA -5 in the SSC and HSC examination in 2015 from Narsingdi district organised by Zilla Parishad Narsingdi at Shilpakala Academy here on Saturday. The Minister said the goal of vision 2021 of prime Minister Sheikh Hasina could be easily attained by the brilliant students because they are a strong self-confident and productive guiding forces of our nation. Their contribution is a lot from the historic language movement to War of Liberation 1971. Chief Executive of Zila Parishad Narsingdi Siddiqur Rahman presented the welcome speech in the ceremony. He narrated the Zila Parishad’s stipend distribution that a total of Tk 27,31000 among 1022 students will receive education stipend of them 670 students of SSC at a rate of Tk 2500 each and 352 student of HSC at a Tk 3000 each. With the chair of Administrator Zila Parishad Narsingdi, Adv Asaduzzaman the ceremony was addressed among others by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue & Education) Jasim Uddin Haider, former principal of Narsingdi government College Prof Mohammad Ali, former principal of Tularam College Naryanganj, Prof Rowshanara Begum and District Education Officer Manwar Hossain. The State Minister then distributed medal and education stipend among 1022 brilliant students of the district.
11 fishermen jailed for catching hilsa

A mobile court sentenced 11 fishermen to 15 days’ imprisonment each for catching hilsa defying the ban yesterday. A team led by executive magistrate Mandip Ghorai conducted a drive from Sunday night to Monday morning in the Padma River, along different areas of Sadar upazila, and arrested 11 fishermen, said Umme Salma Tanjia, deputy commissioner of the district. The team also seized 10 mounds of current nets and four and half mounds of hilsa fish. Later, the detained fishermen were produced before the mobile court of executive magistrate Mandip Ghorai which sentenced each of them to 15 days’ imprisonment. The government has imposed a ban on catching, selling, transportation and hoarding of hilsa from 12 October to 2 November.
World Food Day observed in Gaibandha
GAIBANDHA: The World Food Day-2015 observed here as elsewhere in the country and the globeon Sunday with a call to boost production of agri-crops including fish and edible animals to ensure food security for all. This year’s theme of the day is ‘Climate is Changing and Food and Agriculture Must too’.Marking the day, Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) and office of the District Controller of Food here chalked out the programmes in cooperation with district administration. In the morning, a grand rally was brought out from the premises of district collectorate building and ended at the same venue after parading the main roads of the town. Later, a discussion meeting was held at the conference room of DC office with deputy director of DAE AKM Ruhul Amin in the chair while DC M. Abdus Samad addressed it as the chief guest and chief executive officer of Zila Parishad MAKS Mahbubur Rahman was present as the special guest.
