One killed in road mishap in Chapainawabganj

 A passenger of a rickshaw van was killed in a road mishap at Atahar Dighipara on the Amnura-Chapainawabganj road on Sunday morning. The deceased was identified as Shah Alam, 25, son of Menshad Ali of Ramjibanpur under Baliadanga union of Chapainawabganj sadar upazila. Police and local sources said the accident occured as a sand land laden tractor hit a rickshaw van at around 8-45 am killing Shah Alam on the spot.
Businessman robbed , 3 hijackers arrested

Tk. 1.6 lakh have been robbed off in broad day light, 3 muggers have been arrested in a hijacking incident took place at South Surma in Sylhet on broad day light yesterday. It has been learnt from the locals and South Surma Thana Police outpost, a car-businessman Ruel Miah S/O Siraj Miah of Balagonj after drawing Tk. 1,60,000 from a bank was coming to Sylhet by his motor cycle. At around noon when he reached Kolartal of South Surma a car with 5 hijackers on board hit him behind resulting in Mr. Ruel fell down. The hijackers robbed Tk. 1,60,000 off him. While fleeing by the car, Mr. Ruel raised a hue and cry and local people chased the car. At Joinpur the hijackers car hit a four-stroke which made them stop. The angry mob caught Anaj Miah (22) S/O Kajol Miah, Zakaria (28), S/O Nurul Islam of Jalalabad, South Surma and Imran (25) S/O Ali Miah of Darbost Jaintia, were given a good beating and handed over them to South Surma Police.
Two dacoits arrested in Barisal

Police arrested two alleged dacoits after one injured by gun shot of police on leg at Matasar area under Kawnia police station of the city on early Monday. Selim Reza, Kawnia police station officer in charge, said a gang of armed dacoits prepared to commit dacoity at the house of Babul Mia, a police constable working at Dhaka. Police after informed about the matter rushed to the spot and cordoning the miscreants called to surrender. However, police opened fire when the miscreants ignoring the order tried to flee from the scene. Then Md. Jewel, 35, one of the gang members, injured by gun shot of police, was nabbed. At that time police also succeeded to arrest Wasim, another member of the dacoit gang.
Int’l Day of Right to Information observed in Bagerhat

Under the joint auspices of Bagerhat District Administration, Bagerhat Sadar Upazila Administration and SANAC (Sachetan Nagrik Committee), Bagerhat the International Day of Right to Information-2016 was observed in Bagerhat district town in a befitting manner on Wednesday . In this connection a colourful rally that was brought out from the DC-office premises paraded the roads of the court campus due to the inclement weather. It was led by Tapan Kumar Biswas, newly appointed DC, Bagerhat. After the end of the rally a lively discussion meeting was held in the DC’s conference room on the significance of the day with Mohammad Mamunul Hasan, ADC (Gen), Bagerhat in the chair. Adv. Jahangir Ali Babu, convener of the observance committee of International Day of Right to Information-2016 explained the need and importance of Day in his address of welcome while Prof. Chowdhury Abdur Rob, former President of SANAC, Bagerhat read out the concept paper of the day prepared by TIB (Transparency International Bangladesh) in the meeting. Tapan Kumar Biswas, DC, Bagerhat while was speaking in the meeting as the chief guest said, without the Right to Information transparency, accountability and good governance is not possible. He added, we are on the way to achieve something through the Right to Information. He further added that as the part of it the govt. had adopted a number of appreciable steps to open all the development works before the people.
Allowance cards deistributed among distressed in Rampal

Allowance cards among the beneficiaries like the aged ,widow and physically handicapped people were distributed at Baintala Union Parishad in Rampal Upazilla on Sunady. Being presided over by the UP Chairman of Baintala UP Fakir Md. Abdulla , MP of Rampal-Mongla Constituency and Ex-State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Alhaj Talukder Abdul Khaleq was present there as chief guest. The Chief guest handed over the card among the beneficiaries. Upazilla AL President Alhaj Sk. Abdul Ohab ,Ex-Upazila Chairman Prof. Molla Abdur Rouf ,Upazilla Vice Chairman Sk. Moajjem Hossain ,Upazilla AL member Gazi Borhan Uddin and Ex-UP Chairman Khan Taeb Ali was present there as special guest. This year 186 men and women from Baintala UP will get this opportunities .Chief guest in his speech has told that AL govt. is the govt. for common people of the country.

His govt. is working to change the lot of the poor people.

He added that during the tenure of AL , no people have to starve , no people have to die without medicine.
Mentioning the welfare activities of the govt. he told that the govt. has introduced Old Age Allowance ,Widow Allowance , VGF Card ,VGD Card , Rationing Card and Beggar Rehabilitation Programme in the country. He also told that when the country is marching forward ,the anti-liberation forces are plotting to make the country instable. He urged all to be cautious of them and their heinous activities. The function came to an end at 1 p.m.
